I was so excited that a Spotlight was opening in the local area. The location is easily accessible with ample parking. The layout of the shop makes it easy to navigate (for the most part). A lot of effort appears to have been put into ensuring the environment is tidy and organised.
Unfortunately, this is where my positive experience with Spotlight Alexandria ends. As a regular customer at the store for both small business and personal reasons (fabric mostly), I am becoming very hesitant to purchase from this particular location.
A certain staff member in this department with blonde hair is possibly one of the rudest individuals Iāve ever come across. She literally scolds customers and Iāve personally experienced this more than once.
On one occasion she was questioning me over marked down fabric, which had faults throughout it (as stated on the tag). Another occasion, a friendly and accommodating staff member allowed me to take 8 empty rolls to put fabric on (each 8 metres a piece) that Iād purchased in the last week. Iāve spent thousands at this store/online over the last year. After lecturing me she then went off to no doubt berate her poor, accommodating fellow team member.
Customers shouldnāt be treated as impositions. The customer service here is just not it. Iād encourage Spotlight to look into who they hire and review their behaviour because this individual is a liability for your company and Iām confident Iām not the only person who has experienced this...

On returning to the store to ask about replacement parts or purchasing another hoop the staff were thoroughly disinterested. '
To be clear the machine seems to be of good quality and I was not seeking to return it, simply to have a part that had failed replaced, or available to purchase (it is so flimsy it appears to be almost a consumable item). Rather than offering any form of customer service I was told to contact Semco direct. Aida' in particular was more interested in explaining the exclusions to the 28 day return policy than showing any interest or concern about the machine failing within such a short time. Her help extended to giving me the phone number of Semco Earthmoving equipment, a completely unrelated company that laughed when I enquired about sewing machines!
In summary - Good machine but don't expect any local support and think hard about buying anything from Spotlight Alexandria as the staff don't seem interested in working to...

I cannot believe a person can behave as he did. Sighing at the fact that he has to just do his job. I didnāt think caring about customers could be made out to be SUCH a chore. I actually needed to buy more things but ended up just leaving. I would rather pay more elsewhere and buy online.
Past review. I do love spotlight for its inspiration of creative ideas. On my last visit I picked up some curtains and curtain rails that would work in my rental. A staff member then came over to tell me the rods I have wonāt work with my curtains without asking for more details about the space. He actually took the rods off me and put them back telling me to go get something else. As soon as he turned his back I got what I knew would work (my initial choice) and guess whatā¦it did. The curtains look stunning and Iām glad I followed my own informed knowledge of what works and what doesnāt. Staff please donāt come over and interfere when help...
