I attended the Blanc De Blanc Encore event last night with a friend and was left extremely disappointed by my negative experience at this venue. While the aesthetics of the venue were beautiful, the evening was significantly marred by the shocking behaviour of your staff.
Despite having purchased premium tickets and being the first in line, we were repeatedly asked to relocate our seats. The initial ushering towards the middle spot and assurance that it was an optimal location only added to our astonishment and frustration.
The conduct of a particular young male staff member, characterised by his dark brown hair, black bow tie, white shirt, and black waistcoat was appalling. His lack of both etiquette and professionalism was evident as he not only questioned our premium status but responded with unwarranted aggression and impatience. This level of rudeness is entirely unacceptable.
Furthermore, another member of your staff, a blonde female, seemed to escalate the situation, creating an uncomfortable and confrontational atmosphere where both her and this male staff member ganged up on us. This type of behavior is not only unbecoming of a hospitality professional but also deeply distressing for patrons.
I must admit that I have never experienced such poor treatment at your venue before. It is disheartening to contemplate whether this treatment may have been influenced by racial background or some other ridiculous reason, as no other attendees appeared to face such a blatant lack of respect.
To the owners and hospitality manager of The Grand Electric, I implore you to take this feedback to heart. Your staff is in dire need of comprehensive customer service training, with a particular emphasis on tact and basic human decency.
The absence of any mention on your website regarding the potential relocation of ticketholders to accommodate late arrivals is a glaring oversight. The principle of "first come, first served" should extend to patrons who have conscientiously arrived on time and paid for premium seats. This omission reeks of deception.
Purchasing premium tickets should ensure a premium experience, not a degrading encounter with your hospitality staff. I hope that this review serves as a call to action for the Grand Electric to rectify these shortcomings. Prospective patrons, consider yourselves warned. I refuse to come back to this venue and I urge anyone who thinks about purchasing tickets to a show here reconsider and read the reviews here on Google and TripAdvisor as they are absolutely astounding. For a venue that just opened in 2022, your team has a lot of learning to do in understanding what the word respect means in handling patrons who choose to...
Read moreWe saw Blanc de Blanc Encore at The Grand Electric a week ago and it was absolutely amazing. The theatre is down a little alley between two buildings - you’d totally miss it if not intentionally looking which is definitely part of the charm. Once you walk down the alley it opens into a courtyard in front of the theatre with French-themed murals on the walls; it has a very fun feel and is totally different to the larger theatres in Sydney. There’s a bar in the courtyard as well as access to the toilets. Once inside the atmosphere is amazing however there’s no fixed seating - for Blanc de Blanc Encore you purchased tickets based on zones and then it was a ‘first in, first served’ seating model where if you arrived early you’d get the best seats within that zone (not sure if this is the case for all productions shown here). The seating was very squishy - the rows were very close together and the chairs typical wooden dining chairs so they were uncomfortable by the end of the evening (something to be aware of if this may bother you). We didn’t let this affect our night however it was difficult any time someone needed to leave their seat, as trying to walk between the rows was quite impossible. Lots of broken glasses during the night as people tried to walk past (but a very attentive theatre team who cleaned these up as soon as they were able). Again not sure if the seating arrangement is typical for all productions but wanted to point it out as something to be aware of incase it is. The theatre is a fair distance from public transport (10 min walk from Redfern station / 15 min walk from Central station); there are quiet side streets nearby for parking or Uber is the next best option to get there if you’re not looking to walk a fair distance. Overall we had an amazing night and would definitely return for another show...
Read moreCall me old fashioned as this isn't my idea of a theatre that enhances the show. It was my first visit on Saturday night to see Titanique, a very entertaining & enjoyable show; it was witty with fantastic acting and musical score.
The venue, however, was very disappointing. Access to the theatre is down an alleyway, which opens up to a courtyard. From there, patrons proceed to the theatre. Fingers crossed, there's never a fire in this place as getting hundreds of people out quickly & safely would be a nightmare.
We discovered why patrons are shown to the area the tickets are located in - rows & rows of cafe chairs are jammed together, so there's no way you'll ever get your allocated seat. I recommend you think twice if you're claustrophobic.
There is no elevation for the rows of seats, which meant that at times, we were unable to see the actors' performance. This took away from the enjoyment of the show, which was a shame.
Don't use the bathroom if you like privacy - the door on the cubicle I was using didn't fit the space, so I couldn't use the lock on the door.
I was thankful I purchased discounted tickets, but not sure...
