I recommend! We headed to Sydney for a few days to see a show in Chippendale, and tend to always book more affordable accommodation because we're usually out and about. The Nestuto ended up being somewhere I wanted to hang out at! We booked a Studio and it was so spacious and clean and had everything we could've ever needed. While obviously well used, it was well maintained and looked after (massive thank you to the housekeeping staff!). It came equipped with a kitchen with stove top, oven, microwave and kettle (with tea and coffee), as well as cookware, cutlery, plates and dishwasher. There was also a washer and dryer in a spacious bathroom, and plenty of storage options for luggage. The bed was comfortable, and there is air con/heating. We stayed on the first floor, close to Cleveland Street, which is quite busy, but we had no problems with noise as the balcony door was thick, and there was only ever minimal noise from the hallway. The staff there were so friendly and helpful, through both email and in person. There is a Mediterranean style cafe attached with heaps of lunch options and outdoor seating, and you can order coffee or food from your room to skip the queue. The location is also excellent. We were going to head into the CBD for a day, but found that the apartments were in short walking proximity to everything we needed (there is a Woolworths in a large shopping centre at Central Park around a 5 minute walk away, a convenience store about a block away, a few cool pubs close by, and an abundance of really nice bakeries, food joints, and cafes). It's also not far away from destinations like Newtown, and seems to have a train line close by if you'd like to travel. There was also a vending machine fully stocked with chips, chocolates and snacks in the lobby. We were gonna check out the more communal spaces but felt super content hanging out having cups of tea on the balcony. My partner and I were absolutely blown away by the whole experience and will visit again if we're heading that way again....
Read moreI have never left a negative review about anything. I only leave reviews when the experience was good. But not this time. Having stayed at many, many hotels and apartments over the years, this was, without exaggeration, the worst experience we have ever had!
Upon opening the apartment door, we were greeted by an intense mould smell. It infiltrated the entire apartment and seemed to come from the bathroom. It was so strong that it hit the very back of the throat and took the breath away.
There were two A/C units. Both leaked condensation onto the carpet leaving wet areas. The A/C over the entry door was fitted in such a way that the louvres couldn't open because of the automatic door closer below it. In addition, that unit had a loose cover that vibrated back and forth by some 3cm or so and was very noisy.
There was a pair of underpants in the clothes dryer, evidently left behind from previous occupants.
We were to sleep on the sofa bed. The inner-spring mattress had collapsed to the point that all you could feel when laying in bed were the springs..
One of the dining chairs was broken and the back leaned back so far that it couldn't be used.
There was a shortage of cutlery.
The shower soap holder had been snapped off: A small problem but one that could so easily be fixed.
Contact was made with management. They gave us extra cutlery, replaced the chair, and sprayed some air freshener around to disguise the mould. He took a look at the mattress, tilted up the head of it into a kind of sitting position and insinuated there was nothing wrong with the mattress; we simply hadn't set it up right! Peculiar.
Such conditions suggest management doesn't have a hint of concern for the clients. But they are more than happy to take your money.
UPDATE: After a call to the apartments today, the permanent Manager is back on duty and says improvements have been made to the room. She also refunded half...
Read moreWhen we arrived at Waldorf Sydney central serviced apartment we were told we hadn't paid as my American express was declined. I have never had one and we had paid in cash. I showed the receipt but that wasn't good enough and had to pay again. Up in the apartment there was no bathroom plug. It took me 3 days to het one. Many things didn't work. No ventilation in the bathroom/washhouse which opened into the kitchen. There was mould everywhere especially on the ceiling. Only 1 of 4 rings sort of worked on the cook top and the 2 pots supplied were far too big to be used for 2 people. I killed several fleas and a cockroach while there. The room wasn't serviced in the week we were there so had to wash our own towels and take any rubbish to the skip downstairs ourselves. I had my jewellery stolen from my double zipped handbag on the bottom of my zipped case. There was not a lot of cooperation over this either. Stay well clear of this place. I'd like to post the photos we took but cannot see a...
