Not happy with our visit on Sunday the 28th of April still awaiting a response from management grr 😠 to attend your venue to taste wines & eat as you advertised food trucks, I decided to bring two of my teenagers with us, on arrival the female staff member found our booking. It was a table for two outside. It was raining and she noticed that we had extra two with us and said that our table would accommodate for like it moved inside so table inside it was around our table discovered that there was only one food truck, which was the Gemma sausage van was seated outside as the sun came out then found out that there was no soft drinks or any other drinks available for the teenagers other than alcohol which my surprise was quite unacceptable and thought that this was very bizarre. Proceeded to order glasses of wine and proceeded to the food truck to order food this time had one of the Wait come and clear the table and pick up all the glasses. I returned to the table as this was happening and said we’d only just arrive. We are not leaving. She didn’t put all the glasses down now knew whose glass was which I was then give my glass to drink and I wasn’t sure if it was mine. Wait said this in front of the mat that was on the front desk into the tables. She said to the waitress they’re not finished so she put them back down and I said to the day well now what I’m expected to drink a glass that I don’t know which is mine and also ordered bottle of wine to take home that was placed in a bag that became wet as the bottle was cold and fell out in the car park on the dirt when we were leaving also in between this time , we finished our sausages. Went for a bathroom break and went inside to get another bottle of water as there was no soft drink on offer and then was greeted back at the table by the venue on the Sunday the 28th and she asked me could we hurry up and move along because they had someone else coming in for the table? There were several other large bench seats available and I said to her we didn’t. I make a booking and my booking was from 12. She went on the iPad had a look and said oh yes you’re booked from 12 till 2 pm I thought this was quite rude and not acceptable since I had hence made a booking and I found the whole ordeal of our visit was non-functioning and staff members needs to be looked out for the customer service skills were outrageous giving you this opportunity for my feedback before I leave my review on your page and on my Google reviews page as I do not find that this is acceptable at any venue for someone to be picking up glasses in hospitality and putting them back down for the customer to drink out of a guessing game of whose glasses whose this is only one of the issues on the day we left there feeling quite deflated and hungry...
Read moreI'm not in the habit of leaving reviews & am not a person to complain much but I feel this may actually benefit Witches Falls Winery. I went for a leisurely drive up to Mt Tambourine specifically to drop into Witches Falls Winery over the weekend. Great to see they were busy & doing well in these difficult times..... I understand due to not making a lunch booking that I was unable to be seated for lunch so we just booked in for a late afternoon wine tasting. After ducking off for lunch elsewhere we came back & the gentleman that greets at the front was a really nice guy & very accommodating. Upon being seated at the table near the bar we were eventually greeted after 5 minutes by the wine tasting hostess. She was a nice pleasant well spoken young lady. It took 1 HOUR to get through 6 wines. There was 1 other couple wine tasting. The hostess looked like she had multiple roles serving the outside dining area as well as looking after us. The hostess was more intent on external table sales & service & not the wine tasting clients. Needless to say I had full intention of purchasing 2 x Boxes of wines to restock the cellar but after this service I was turned off & became internally irate. I have been fortunate to travel to many wine regions & have never ever experienced a lack of attention in service in a winery. Wine Tasting is supposed to be a experience immersed in the taste of the Wineries best selection promoting sales of their finest wines. needless to say I felt like i was an inconvenience to their organisation. Its a shame as Wine regions in other states have this service...
Read moreWitches Falls has lost its way entirely. After coming here a handful of times some years ago I readily called them my favourite Australian winery, with their Prophecy Syrah being my favourite wine to match. In fact I sought out their wines to write analysis as a part of my degree. However upon revisiting today I was met with an overpriced tasting and an establishment that is more interested in being a bar/restaurant than a winery.
When entering, the gentleman at the door was most welcoming and attentive throughout the whole visit, however the lady also working there seemed vaguely disinterested. We were shown to a table, with bar side tastings seemingly discouraged, and found out the tasting would be $20 per person for 6 tasting pours. Which was refundable on the purchase of 3 or more bottles. Which places them in a distance last place for tasting value.
The wines remain decent, but quality has clearly shifted over the years, notably with their more aged styles being taken from younger vintages. The cellar staff are decently knowledgeable but clearly being led by a script with lacking intimate knowledge about their specific winemaking practices.
The venue is immaculately presented and the perfect atmosphere for a wine tasting, lunch, etc. I did not go into the tap room, but that also looked promising.
Edit: While the tasting was advertised to take the better part of an hour, and be some form of 'experience' it was completed in...
