Tamborine Diner — Restaurant in Queensland

I’m sorry to be the bearer of a bad review and never wrote one before, however I’ve never felt more compelled to tell of a restaurant experience more than this…

Please don’t go to Tamborine Diner. My girlfriend and I went last night as we spent the last two nights at Mt Tamborine and saw the same video and decided to go try out their food and it was absolutely HORRID.

I ordered ribs: The ribs had so much uncooked fat on it, the sauce wasn’t nice at all, I got vege and mash on the side (as we already had chips with the chicken wings) and the vege could easily be mistaken for an Asian style dish (if you had a blindfold on and asked what were you eating), the mash had the so much cracked pepper in there that had me questioning “why”.

We also ordered soy honey chicken wings (note: not listed as honey soy like every other place would list it), and for good reason… the sauce used would easily be considered to the taste of a soy sauce used from a side condiment at an Asian restaurant and far out, was it absolutely drowned in the sauce, there was literally a pool of it at the bottom of the dish, plus there was no honey taste at all. The deep fry of the chicken wings was just mushy and the only compliment of the entire meal was that the 5 chips that weren’t in the soy pool tasted nice and the bottled Coke Zero was true to taste.

After spending $72.62 for these two dishes, we stopped 5 mins into eating the meal, plates still uneaten with food and promptly drove 2 mins down the road where we had Italian dinner the night before at a place called Belvedere which was absolutely delicious. It made redemption for the pure disappointment from this Diner.

If I could give you no stars I would ! Absolutely disgusting experience! Ordered a steak sandwich took 3 times to get it out it had no sauce or anything on it was so dry .. the chips were disgusting cooked in dirty oil and not edible .. the salad was old the salad mix used was rancid so couldn’t eat that ordered a steak with mash and veg came out with salad and chips I can’t eat fried food and was told sorry we don’t have any mash or veg after I had paid and placed the order so basically I paid $32 for a small overcooked gross steak the sauce was absolutely tasteless too .. then after only bringing half the table there orders disposed of our docket so we didn’t get the rest after waiting more than an hour already my daughter ordered her burger with no beetroot due to an allergy it came with beetroot on it she returned it the waitress went to the bin took off the beetroot and bought it back while the whole burger was covered in beetroot juice obviously don’t care if you have allergy’s .. the place is dirty the kitchen extremely disorganised I run a business just like this one and if my staff performed like this it would be there last day .. after speaking with manager she offered a small voucher which I declined because I will never ever eat here again I should have been refunded as the food was not edible or what I ordered I will be taking this further and making a complaint to the health dept as well ! Do not waste your hard earned dollars at this place .. wasted $200 for 4 people one was a 6 year old child so not cheap ..came home and has to buy the kids MacDonald cause they were starving we saved for this was meant to be a special Easter Treat and it was just a disgusting waste of money and totally ruined our day !...

Very disappointed with the customer service at Tamborine Mountain pizza.

I ordered two pizzas and the chicken wings to be delivered to my property. I placed the order at 6.30pm. The staff clarified the order via phone to confirm the gluten free base. Then another staff member called 10minutes later to ask the same questions. They said I needed to pay a surcharge - which I was happy to pay in cash on delivery. At no point was I told of a wait time - when online you are given a 45min delivery window.

At 7.40pm I called back to see how long the order would be - the staff in the kitchen said that it would 10minutes away. I was the ‘next cab off the rank’ and would have my food in 20minutes.

At 8.10pm, I called back and they said that they were busy and that the staff member was getting in the car in 10 minutes to deliver the food.

The food arrived at my place at 8.35pm. Not only was the communication and their processes unprofessional- The food was cold, dry and presented poorly.

I spoke to the young woman who delivered and gave my BSB and ACC and said we entitled to a refund. I said I would like the money in my account or for management to at least call back and apologise. A 2 hour wait, for a $73 dollar meal that we couldn’t eat.

I always value supporting local. Supporting kids jobs. Families on the mountain running small businesses. I was better off driving to Canungra (where the pizzas are consistently incredible) and coming home. Then supporting local community that I actually live in.
