I recently embarked on a culinary quest at Elevation Cafe. Arriving at 12, I was excited by the eclectic fittings and wonderful atmosphere. I ordered the Bruschetta and a House Made Juice. The Juice consisted of apple, pineapple, ginger and ice, mainly ice, an incredibly large amount of ice. The ice provided the sustenance that fuelled the almost 2 hour wait for the former piece of food. After exhausting all humours at the table, and resorting to sleeping on the desk, finally the food arrived. The Bruschetta was underwhelming, lightly flavoured and generally lacking. It had good body, was hot and the layer of fine crema signalled it was clearly made from fresh coffee beans. For lunch my husband ordered the creamy garlic prawns, which was served with rice and salad, and I ordered the soup of the day, which was beetroot and tomato, with thyme, served with Turkish bread. Both meals were made from fresh ingredients, tasted delicious and were generous servings. The soup was a clever flavour combination and we found that the prawn dish was a much loved family recipe. She left the shop with her coffee and looked for a dry bench to Sit on, in front of the supermarket. There wasn't any so she stood for sometime, waiting. She looked at all the empty chairs outside the coffee shop but knew they were off limits. She finally plucked up the courage to sit in the dry chair, furthest from the shop-front, to drink her coffee, and wait. A young man in waiter's attire came out and told her, if you havent got your green tick you can't sit there.
