I had an appointment yesterday with one of the hairdressers, and I was very disappointed with both the results and the service.
I showed my hairdresser multiple pictures and videos of the look I was trying to achieve. I also asked if she had a hair color board I could look at to ensure she got the correct shade I wanted. She said, “No, because it doesn’t come out the same anyways,” and assured me that she knew what I wanted.
I specifically requested a very dark brown (sunkissed) look on my naturally very dark brown Asian hair—a neutral tone that leaned toward the cooler side. Even though I could not be sure she understood me, I told her I trusted her. To double-check, I even showed her more videos of the look I was going for.
During the session, while she was applying the foils, she repeatedly walked away for 15–20 minutes at a time (this happened three times) without saying anything. She had not even finished applying all the foils. Each time, she was either drying someone else’s hair or chatting with other staff members in the backroom. I would have appreciated at least some communication, but she simply left without explanation.:
After applying the toner, she washed and dried my hair. When I put my glasses on and saw the results, I was shocked. My hair was filled with streaky, very warm golden/orangey yellowy bits—the complete opposite of what I wanted. I dont believe anyone would have wanted what i had.
What made this even more frustrating was that, while she was blow-drying my hair, she commented, “Ah, it’s so good—it really adds warmth to your face.” My internal panic thoughts were ‘Warmth? That’s exactly what I didn’t want.’ At the start of the session, I even mentioned that I was okay with going lighter to get rid of my natural warmth.
When she asked if I liked it, I told her it was much lighter than what I had asked for and far too warm. Her response was that if she had gone any darker, “the color would disappear.” I told her I wanted it very dark, but instead of correcting it properly, she applied a second toner, left it on for about five minutes, and rinsed it off. It was also just slabbed in unevenly.
The final result? Uneven, streaky, warm highlights all over my head.
The Haircut:
As for the haircut, I expected her to actually listen to what I wanted and put in the effort to achieve the style I requested. I showed her a picture of my desired cut, but she spent less than 15 minutes on it. It did not look like what i wanted. A haircut that cost $125 should definitely not have been like that.
This is not my first appointment with her, but this experience was beyond disappointing. It felt like she was rushing through the job and did not care at all. I now have bronze-colored streaks everywhere—some lighter, some darker—resulting in an incohesive, extremely warm, and unnatural-looking dye job. And for this, I paid $460 I am so upset and honestly feel like cutting my hair off.
Another thing is when i was making the booking i have mentioned i would like to have my hair washed im cold/room temperature water When my hair dresser washed my hair i assumed she knew about it because thats what i wrote in the booking. But i soon found out she was unaware. So Why allow a comment session for clients to write down things when you wouldn't read it ?
There was this other girl who was assigned to wash parts of my hair. I asked her if she could wash my hair in room temperature water (i asked that because she wasnt my main hair dresser and i knew she probably wouldnt have read the comments on my booking) and she was very friendly and understanding about it and constantly checked with me to see of the temperature was alright.
Im very upset with the experience i had and as soon as my partner picked me up yesterday i bursted into tears and cried all...

Read moreSalon Jaimmelee is the only salon that I’d recommend in Perth. Coming in as a new client, I was nervous and didn’t know what to book for as my hair had been bleached, box dyed and stripped (by another hairdresser). My hair was a mess of colours and I just wanted it fixed.. I expected that I would need multiple sessions to get my hair where I want it to be. But, some fricken how, my first ever appointment and Sonny had completely transformed my hair in under 3 hours to a natural & blended colour, similar to what my hair looked like when I was growing up. Sonny is incredibly creative in her work, she looks at all aspects of what her clients want and what they need. Regardless of what you book for, she will give you what you want and more. The vibes are great, all the girls are lovely and the whole experience was incredibly quick, easy & professional. Sonny is way ahead of the game and completely understands hair trends and looks after her clients with passion. 10/10 highly recommend...
