A few years ago, this was the location of one of our most important/ prestigious corporate events. The location as such is spectacular. The greater was our disappointment (or better: we were horrified) by the event team’s work on site.
As this kind of event requires detailed planning way ahead of time, we had been in contact early and numerous times to ensure everything runs smoothly. However, I have never, EVER experienced such an unmotivated, couldn’t-care-less attitude as the Hangar team displayed on the day. They did not heed ANY of our previously discussed arrangements. E.g., we were supposed to have two guided tours at the same time to be able to split the huge group up into smaller units. Nevertheless, we ended up with only one tour guide for way too many people who did not even have a microphone. Even standing right at the front, it was difficult to understand a word he was saying, so people lost interest immediately and started up their own conversations as there was nothing to gain from trying to lip read what the guide was saying. Also, the guide reacted rather rudely to our request that the tour be shortened to half an hour (which, needless to say, we had explicitly requested weeks in advance). He had clearly not been informed and was both unable and unwilling to accommodate us. The situation was chaotic, unpleasant and downright embarrassing. When we arrived at the conference room the next morning, nothing had been arranged the way we had discussed it, although we had been assured numerous times by the reception staff that the morning shift would prepare everything according to plan. The morning shift staff member (yes, only one person who had obviously had a very short night…) arrived 10 minutes before the conference was supposed to start and my colleagues and I had been running around frantically for 30 minutes trying to get the room in order. Mind you, we have paid a lot of money, only to do their work for them. The highlight: immediately after showing up, that staff member dropped a glass bottle of coke right at the entrance door to the conference room and didn’t return with a mop for a full 15 minutes, so every single one of our guests had to step over/wade through shreds of glass and sticky liquid to get into the room. There are no words to describe the level of unprofessional conduct we had to endure from that team. As it has been a few years, I can only hope that things have improved drastically since. Nonetheless, I have discouraged every employer/ friends/ acquaintances and business relations from ever booking any kind of corporate event here as this experience has left me and my colleagues with an unheard of level of stress, embarrassment and horror. The one star goes whole-heartedly to the restaurant. The food as well as the service were superb. The sole light in the dark during these...
