We went to see 'Leuli va Macnun', an Arabic rooted love story. And from the very first second of this show I was absolutely captivated by this show. The stage set is wonderfully made with simple technics yet so effective. The puppeteers actually get involved in the play and with the marionettes which makes the performance different and unique compared to Western style string puppets shows. Also the way of playing the puppets is kind of modest and quiet but within the set it still gets you mesmerised. If the show is sold out online, try your luck by popping in the theatre on the day of the show, you still might get standby tickets. Read moreThe facilities and decor is nice. The ticket prices were okay. The puppet designs were pretty good, dressed in fantastic costumes, yet all with the same wooden frame and articulations underneath. I was a bit disappointed that the performance prominently featured the puppeteers, as the spotlights included their hands and faces which, proportionate to the size of the marionettes, commanded the audience's attention.
Be aware that most of the patrons are tourists and the theater caters to their interests in accordance with those of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Read moreI watched 'Arsin Mal Alan' on 19 October 2024. It was once in a life time experience. It felt like I was in a theatre with real human actors. The puppets were so well played with human souls blown into them! The narrator was 5 the whole play was well written, directed with unbelievably well designed stages for every scene. I wish we could bring this to Cyprus.
