The place was small with a lot of steps, when you move from one room to another you are literally going up and down. The steps were steep, could be tiring and slippery for seniors and kids, and hence we just did the upper part of the palace haven't been to the lower part. The palace is definitely not wheelchair accessible. Inside the palace you can find a few historical artifacts, traditional clothing and architectural details. It is recommended to visit the palace if you are interested in history, otherwise in my opinion the outside views and surroundings of the palace were much more beautiful, the view of old baku vs the flame towers was amazing. It is worth noting that there are 2 stores inside the palace, one is the souvenirs shop (don't make the mistake of buying tea from here as they charge double the price of the supermarkets).

Visited this place with the intention to know more details of its background and history, therefore rented an iPad, and how disappointed I was because it didnt come with headphones. Directions were confusing too. My bad for comparing this place with Dolmabahce Palace in Turkey, oh I should not have.. There's a souvenier shop inside the complex which also provides photo opportunity wearing Azerbaijan traditional costume. From what I understood, 20 Manat was for one digital n printed photo. When I wanted the digital copy, she was hesitating. After some argument only she said she will email (thankfully she did). My bad too for comparing this experience with the ones in Korea & Morocco (Korea much cheaper, Morocco even gave it for free)

Palace of the Shirvanshahs is a historical site with impressive architecture, but the exhibits inside are a bit disappointing. Despite being the former residence of the Shirvanshah dynasty, none of the exhibits seem to actually date back to their era. Most of the displayed items are from the 19th and 20th centuries, which feels out of place in such a significant historical palace. Additionally, during my visit, the air conditioning wasn’t working, making the experience uncomfortable, especially in the summer heat. The palace’s exterior and courtyard are beautiful and worth seeing, but the museum aspect could use some improvement to truly reflect its historical importance.

I do not think that what is on offer matches the almost 10 USD entry fee this museum charges, for two reasons. Firstly, it is simply not very well curated. Lightning of any sort is hard to come by, making most exhibits look dark. The palace is newly renovated meaning that practically everything you see is a copy of the imagined original. There are not many items to look at as well. Secondly, there are plenty better and longer museum experiences all around Baku for much cheaper or outright free. Just my two cents on the issue, unless you love your specific Medieval history, seek enjoyment elsewhere.

Bakının tarixi tikililəri arasında mühüm yer tutan Şirvanşahlar sarayı XV əsrdə Şirvanşah I Xəlilullah (hakimiyyət illəri 1417-1462) tərəfindən tikilib. İçəri şəhərdə yerləşən bu saray kompleksi Yaxın Şərqin ən görkəmli memarlıq abidələrindən biri sayılır. Kompleksə daxil olan əsas bina - saray tikililər içərisində ən qədimidir. Tarixçilərin fikrincə onun tikintisi 10 ilə yaxın müddət ərzində başa gəlib. Kompleksə saraydan başqa Divanxana, Kеyqubаd məscidi, Seyid Yəhya Bakuvinin türbəsi, Murad darvazası (Şərq portalı), Saray məsсidi, türbə, hamam və ovdan (su anbarı) daxildir. Türbə, saray və məsсid eyni tikinti materialından tikilib və onların hörgü üslubu da eynidir. Saray binasının özündə heç bir yazılı qeyd olmadığından onun tikilmə tarixi kompleksə daxil olan digər abidələrin üzərindəki kitabələrə görə müəyyən edilir. Onlardan ikisi - şah məsçidinin minarəsindəki və türbədəki kitabələr müasir dövrümüzə qədər gəlib çatıb. Hər iki kitabədə bu binaların tikilməsini əmr edən Şirvanın şahı I Xəlilullahın adı keçir. XV əsrdə Şirvanşahlar dövlətinin paytaxtı Ön Şərqin iri şəhərlərindən biri olan Şamaxı idi. Şirvanşahların sarayı da ilk olaraq burada yerləşirdi. Sonradan bəzi siyasi mülahizələrə görə şirvanşah I Xəlilullah dövlətin mərkəzini Bakı şəhərinə köçürür. Saray və kompleksə daxil olan binaların yerləşdiyi ərazi müxtəlif hündürlükdə yerləşən üç həyətə bölünür. Sarayın özü isə birinci həyətdə yerləşir. Dövlət tərəfindən mühafizə olunan Şirvanşahlar sarayı – kompleksi 1964-cü ildən muzey-qoruq statusu alıb

Most of the palace was destroyed and what you see is restored. Some artifacts brought in to fill the space. No real wow factor. I bought the ticket from the entrance and the whole ticket is collected by the person at the door. Ticket is not torn. I wonder why? 15 manat to get in. This said, the palace is sitting on high ground and oversees old town. Very nice court yard to chill. Tombs of the royal family in the court yard. Spend about an hour should be enough.
