On my most recent trip last week, I visited the Bahamas and stayed at @atlantisbahamas . The Mayan Temple features 5 slides and this one is the Leap of Faith, offering a daring vertical drop of 60 feet followed by a high speed ride through a clear tunnel submerged in a shark-filled lagoon. I saw my homie @phuturemillionaire do it and I told him that I was doing it too šŸ˜…. This was on my highlights of my trip to the Bahamas. I’m not so adventurous sometimes because I have a fear of heights but I’m conquering them slowly but surely. #bahamasšŸ‡§šŸ‡ø #atlantis #atlantisbahamas

After three weeks with no response from either The Atlantis management or The Marriott Corporation, we have decided to post on the review sites

Dear Atlantis Managers,

I am writing to formally raise significant concerns following my recent stay at the Atlantis Coral Hotel in the Bahamas, from August 14 to August 17, during which my party occupied two rooms booked via Expedia.

We had been genuinely looking forward to our visit, given Atlantis’s outstanding reputation, but sadly, our experience was deeply disappointing and fell far below the standards expected from a property of this caliber.

Most alarmingly, there were critical safety issues that jeopardized the wellbeing of guests. Both rooms had connecting doors without proper locks. While these doors could not be opened from our side, the absence of any additional security mechanism posed a serious risk, particularly if the door was not fully shut. We have never stayed in rooms where you couldn’t lock the conjoining room. We were also informed that workers were staying in nearby rooms and they used latches to keep their doors partially open, creating a hazardous environment where anyone in the hallway could easily gain entry. This situation was not only unsettling but completely unacceptable from a guest safety perspective. Especially since our room was connected to one of the rooms that stayed open during our stay. The condition and functionality of the rooms were also highly unsatisfactory. The USB ports on the wall outlets did not work, rendering them unusable for charging devices, which was inconvenient and frustrating. In addition, the mini fridge in our room leaked water throughout our stay, soaking and ruining food we had stored inside. For a hotel of this level, these kinds of maintenance failures are extremely disappointing. The cleanliness of the rooms was equally unacceptable. We arrived to find fecal matter in the bathroom tub, floors that had clearly not been cleaned, and a sofa so stained and filthy it was unusable. Such neglect in basic hygiene is shocking and raises serious questions about the standards maintained by your housekeeping team.

Regarding dining, while we greatly enjoyed Claudio’s and Nobu, some of the other dining experiences were disappointing. After spending several hours at the casino, we asked the front desk staff for late-night (10:30pm) dining options. We went to Claudio’s at 10:25 PM only to be told the kitchen was closed, despite the website indicating it stayed open until 11:00 PM. We were then informed that Silan or Plato’s were the only available options. For a hotel with a 24-hour casino, having only two dining venues (one a grab and go, and one restaurant with few options) open late is surprising. Unfortunately, our experience at Silan was poor—the food was served cold and, despite requesting reheating, it was returned to us still cold, which was frustrating.

Adding to our disappointment, we were not notified of the Coral’s impending closure leading up to our stay or during check-in. We only learned about it through a Facebook group and chatter through the resort during our stay. When we first checked in, we overheard other guests expressing frustration, but we thought nothing of it at the time. However, after experiencing the conditions ourselves, it became clear why so many others were dissatisfied. Guests should be informed of such major changes directly and transparently by the hotel, not left to discover it through social media. It’s no wonder this portion of the hotel is being renovated.

Given the severity of these issues, which directly impacted our safety, comfort, and overall experience, I trust that you will take immediate and meaningful action to address these concerns. We expect the Atlantis to uphold the highest standards for guest safety and service, and hope our feedback will contribute to improving these critical areas.

We hope to see improvements and would welcome the opportunity to return under better circumstances in the future.

Thank you for your attention. I look forward to your...

Sorry, it’s an overrated tourist trap. Those that rave about this place don't have much to compare it to. A few families we spoke to mentioned they went there every year or two. I can't understand that logic, but I know people stick with what they know. What we experienced was less than impressive. The rooms need dire updating and repair. Ours had missing bathroom door hardware, relocated towel bars with the old holes exposed, patio furniture falling apart and a clogged patio drain which allowed 2 inches of water to accumulate during a nighttime rain and remain there for days - rendering the patio unusable (see photos). The days were 90 degrees and humid, which is expected. But the room was stuffy, hot and uncomfortable. The air conditioner would not drop the temperature lower than 72 degrees. It was constantly running but never got cool (our digital luggage scale for some reason has a thermometer in it). We would walk in after a sweltering day, shower for dinner and step out only to get dressed and start sweating again. We would wake up a few times per night from the stuffiness. Poolside lunch stands served typical mediocre burgers, nachos, chicken fingers, convenience store-quality salads, etc. Two adults and a 10 year old managed to rack up $80 lunches with only my wife opting for a colorful but mostly sweet drink with barely a hint of alcohol for $18. And although they had water dispensers scattered around to fill personal water bottles, they ran frustratingly warm, had a sulfur taste and I personally don't trust the cleanliness of those things. That forced you (by design, I'm sure) to buy 500 ML cartons of water for $10 each (smaller than a 20 oz bottled water - fleecing at its best). We were easily going through 4 or 5 cartons a day to keep hydrated since it was so hot ($50 a day in water alone!). The more formal restaurants were ok but still over-priced for the quality and quantity. Be aware that every bar, restaurant and food stand you went to had a 15% tip included - but every transaction brought you to a separate screen that asked for your "Tip Amount" (not "Additional Tip"). It took me a day to realize I was tipping 20% on top of 15% already charged. I'll take the blame on that, but felt it was a bit sneaky. We did like the Lagoon Bar & Grill for a better casual lunch - it was much better than the poolside stands, so we went there a few times because of limited options. They were obsessed with pool towel control. They were not luxurious towels, but you had employees standing at every entry making you hand in your towel before entering the hotel. Before we showered for dinner, my wife decided to run to the marina area (part of the hotel) for Starbucks and they insisted my son unwrap the towel from his waist and hand it in before proceeding. My wife said we’re just grabbing a coffee and coming back but the woman wouldn't let us leave. Each pool area didn't have its own towel hut, so you had to walk around searching for a hut whenever you needed a towel. The huts didn't open until 9 am so there was no way of going to the beach or pools with a towel before 9 am. Lastly...I think they are long overdue to leave the paper bracelet days behind. For the price you pay, one would think a higher-end resort would step into the modern age and issue electronic tags instead of having to keep the annoying paper bracelet on your wrist for the entire week and carry your room key everywhere. Much of my review was negative, but it wasn't a horrible trip. The beaches are beautiful, water crystal clear and it's family friendly. If you’re a couple, there's way better choices - this is largely for people looking for pools and water slides. I can only guess this place appeals to much of middle-America on their all-out big-bash, rack-up the credit card even more, guzzle watered-down drinks, I don't care I'm on vacation woo-who type of people. We felt fleeced after a week and weren't even wowed by the place. I know I'm in the review minority - but that only proves my point about most people having nothing else to compare...

Currently staying here for a Nursing Conference 6/4/25-6/9/25. This is my 3rd day here and needless to say I will NEVER be coming back to this resort. From check in we were met with issues. My friend and I are 2 people staying in a room. We know from our other friends at this convention that the room hold PER ROOM was going to be $750.00. The front desk told us "no it will be $750.00 per person for the room so a total of a $1500.00 hold." They said its a cashless hotel so you charge everything to the room towards what we put down and if you dont reach the $1500 we get the remainder back. We said ok no problem. So first they put us in a room that was 90 degrees on a low floor and we were sweating. It also smelled like mold. The front desk did change our room right away when we complained. Then we started noticing when we went to charge things to the room we kept being told our charges were blocked. We'd be at a restaurant and the restaurant employee would have to call the front desk get some kind of authorization for the charge to go through for us. This happened 4 times in 2 days. This morning we go to breakfast and again we are told charges are blocked. At this point now Im just frustrated because I cannot go to eat without there being some kind of issue. So now we go back to the front desk and we are being told FOR THE FIRST TIME there is a max spending limit of $150 per day. I said but it is the morning this is the first thing im charging, besides the fact I was never told about this max spending limit, the breakfast is $50 dollars. Where are you seeing i am going over the limit that you didn't even tell us about? Then I noticed on top of the the $750 they took from each of our cards I noticed they tried to authorization even more money this morning on my regular credit card again! They said that since we were getting close to what we put down they wanted to charge our credit card more. I then asked for a print out of what we spent so far. My friend and I do not even drink alcohol and have only been charging food and I know we have not come close to the $1500. So they print out our bills so far and roughly we've spent $300 each. I said so excuse me explain why you feel the need to charge my credit card more when we should each have $450 left. They then start saying "Oh its the system! We can control what the system does. It's not us" I then asked to speak to a manager. They bring a hotel manager named Enoch to the front desk who I can honestly say is one of the most unprofessional people I have ever met in my life. He was extremely condescending and kept cutting my friend and I off and talked in circles over why the hotel had a right to continue charging our card. I genuinely feel his attitude came from the fact we were 2 women and he was a man. I felt if I had a man to fight for me in that moment he would of been more respectful. He completely degraded my friend and I, and he kept threatening to end the conversation because he did not like how the conversation was going, even though our questions were not being answered. He kept saying "no this was an incidental hold. Then he said just my friend was charged an incidental charge of $250 with a $500 hold to spend. But i was charged $750 as a hold." He kept contradicting himself and anytime we said that doesnt make sense he got more frustrated with us and talked over us. We then asked to speak to someone over him and I expressed my concerns to another person at the front desk that I hoped it was a woman. We then were able to get some more clarity from Enochs boss Tara, who was easier to speak with. She said to us she did not understand why we were being charge additional money when we we're not near the spending of what we put down. She offered to monitor our account and put notes on it. I dont know what will continue to happen after we left the front desk and if things will go in our favor the remaining days, but I will say My friend and I are not impressed by this resort. We travel a lot, I've stayed at resorts with much nicer rooms, and...
