Stayed here for the past two weeks and am checking out tomorrow so thought this would be a good time to post a review. I’m not going to go too in-depth into the individual food options as I am going to rate those that I visited individually. This review was also very long as I wanted to make it comprehensive but I reached the limit on the reviews so I have added more in-depth points as photos so please view them! The Good: Staff: First off, the staff are excellent, everyone was extremely friendly, always saying hello and being pleasant no matter whether it was a housekeeper, security, croupier’s or lifeguards. Really friendly and helpful and often going above or beyond. Lifeguards: I want to make a specific point regarding the Lifeguards. As a swimmer, one thing I love about my local pool back in the U.K. is that the lifeguards are really on the ball and proactive, and that’s the same here, always friendly but make sure that the rules are being followed and everyone is safe. Very good lifeguarding. Hotel grounds and water park: What a setting this hotel is in! A beautiful beach, awesome water park, aquarium and super yachts! The water park brilliant, really fun rides and a good number of them, my advice for the leap of faith is don’t look before you sit down on the slide, it’s quite steep! The marina village is lovely and one of my favourite things to do has been to photograph the different yachts that come in and out. The cleanliness of the site is immaculate, no rubbish laying around, all the grounds are kept neat and tidy and is a very pleasant place to be around. The Dig: The dig is the hotel’s aquarium (along with the predator lagoon but this was sadly closed for the duration of our stay due to renovations). It’s really unique to have in the hotel and I hadn’t been in an aquarium in years so it was a bit of a treat. The Bad: The price: Yes I know the Caribbean and Bahamas in general is expensive, but this hotel is incredibly expensive. For the 4 of us, the cheapest meal was $100 and most of the nights it was $170+. Service charges and tax: Mandatory tipping is rare in the U.K., but having gone to the US a lot, I understand it, the Bahamas though seems to take it to the next level. Anything to do with food and drink, expect to pay at least a 12.5% gratuity, whether that be a meal, or purchasing a bottle of water, this also goes up to 15% in some venues. I have no issues with tipping for good service, but I like to know where my tips are going, and putting it on the bill automatically makes me think the bosses will just be taking it for themselves. The other thing with tipping, they put a space when signing the receipt for extra gratuity, this moves around the receipt depending on the venue, almost in a way to trick you into filling it in. You have to ask yourself if it’s worth adding an extra tip when they are already taking 15% tip, I only did that for exceptional service 2 of 3 times. As for tax, pretty standard comment but as with the US, what you see is not the price you pay. Restaurant selection: Whilst there are several restaurants, they are all very similar (burgers, Italian, bar food) and in our first week, we were really struggling to find food options due to restaurants that should have been open, being closed (no one seemed to know why either, we were even told by concierge that they would be open). To summarise: Whilst we enjoyed our holiday and the resort, we feel that two weeks was too much here. We were sold this holiday by virgin holidays as virgin have just opened the Bahamas route and honestly this wasn’t right for two weeks, the price alone on that. It felt like a lot of people are long weekenders from Miami and honestly if I was to return, I’d probably do it like that off the back of a US trip. Alternatively I would return and stay at the Cove, as this is the quieter hotel and is a stunning property, I would like to return for a week at the Cove in the future, but for the Royal, I may do a long weekend off the back of a US trip.

I never in my life checked in ,in such a dirty room! Hair on the floors ,dirty curtains, spots everywhere starting with carpet and finishing with walls, smelly room! The worst thing is that the issues were reported right away , the manager was aware of the situation and here ,in this resort seems that nobody cares at all about customers! We already gave up,nobody wants to move a finger! The housekeepers are dirty,I guess they were not thought how they’re supposed to clean a room and what actually “clean” means! We still have few more days to stay here but man,I’m disappointed ! You leave the tip for housekeeper, tell what needs to be done and NOTHING,you come back to the sand left untouched in the bathroom floor, spots on the curtains, unvacuumed carpet! UNBELIEVABLE !!! There are some locals who offer you synthetic drugs around,so be really careful with your teenagers , make them aware and keep them safe ! It’s so weird that they have staff supposed to check the guests that stay in the Resort and this staff ask you tens times per day to show the key ,like a proof that you actually live here…but they don’t see the dealers around. Very unsafe! Why not introducing some sort of bracelet with the room key attached to the bracelet, how other resorts offer. The food is bad,not a lot of healthy options!Almost Everything is deep fried and you barely can get some good salads or fresh veggies/fruits. The buffet is so disappointing! The options are so limited ! For those who were in All Inclusive Good Resorts , this experience at the Royal Atlantis will make them feel bad spending money and bringing their families here! The water slides lines are huge and there is 1000$ fee if you want not to spend half of your day in lines, waiting for your turn ! If you want your kid to swim with the dolphin,be ready to pay full price and for the adult that must accompany the kid (how the kid is not allowed in the water without an adult) So if there is 250$ fee to swim with a dolphin (and in the group can be 30 people,at the same time you booked your dolphin experience),if your kid is younger than 13 y ,you must be in the water supervising him/her and you have to pay 250$ and for yourself, even though you don’t want to swim with the dolphin. And about the “kid-friendliness” ,it is sooo difficult to move around the area with a stroller, how there are elevators not working and if you’re alone without your partner it’s impossible to get to the paces you wanted without taking your kid out of the stroller and carrying the stroller or somehow managing to use the stroller on the stairs! I can write till tomorrow how disappointed I am in choosing to stay here!

I stayed here for 3 nights by earning a trip through my workplace. Work covered my stay and provided me with a stipend to purchase food/drink with, though I checked into the pricing out of curiosity. While I had an incredible time overall, I think it was largely thanks to the events my company arranged and people I was travelling with. My review reflects my personal experience solely with the hotel itself. To start on a positive note, the location is FANTASTIC; I felt very safe on the premises, and the views are gorgeous! The pool areas were busy, but not overcrowded. There were many dining options with good food, despite some being criminally overpriced (looking at you, buffet). On to the not-so-great. I found that the staff's attitude could be summed up in one word: Unpleasant. While not all of them were bad, it was far too common to be met with a scowl and unimpressed tone versus a smile and friendly demeanor. A number of my coworkers noticed the same thing, so I know it wasn't just me. Very off-putting for someone who is in an unfamiliar country who wants to learn more and converse with locals. Another not-so-great item was the maintenence. The elevators in the Royal East tower are in dire need of an inspection. On more than one occasion the doors would not open properly on a couple different elevators, and only 3 of the 5 seemed to be active in general. There were a few times I saw MASSIVE lines to use the elevators, so it can't be something they aren't aware of. Elevators aside, the toilet in my room was extremely difficult to flush. The faucet was also very slow to drain. Minor inconveniences, sure, but for the price a guest pays this shouldn't be present. Speaking of the rooms... Let's talk about cleanliness. There wasn't anything incredibly egregious like smells or crazy amounts of dust like others have mentioned, but the staining on the carpet was worse than I have ever seen anywhere in my life, & I've stayed at probably close to 100+ hotels. Not only that, but the bottoms of my feet were quick to turn black after walking barefoot through the room for only a few minutes. It's clear the staff either don't have the proper equipment to clean the floors, don't take the time to clean them, or a combination of the two. Overall, for the price they're charging folks, it's just not worth the money. I'm incredibly grateful to my company for the experience, and truly did enjoy my stay, but I suspect I won't be back... Unless someone else is covering the bill 😉

The Atlantis Royal is filthy, dated, and literally falling apart; an entire section of the bridge suite is exposed and in disrepair. The “updated” Imperial Royal rooms are really dirty. There was mold in the iron, no bathrobe, and no light in the closet. The closet doors didn’t stay open, which made unpacking and getting dressed difficult. There is only one working elevator for the entire tower; one remains open on the ground floor, which is confusing for new guests, and the far right one never opens. The staff is largely unhelpful, including the so-called VIP staff. They seem put upon whenever I ask a question or for directions. The app, which is very basic, is not as helpful as the staff suggested at check in. It constantly crashes and doesn’t provide helpful information. You must know exactly what you are looking for in order to search. The website does not match with the services on sight. For example, The Imperial Club doesn’t exist. Additionally, the website indicates that there are not one, but two business centers on the property. In actuality, there are no business centers. When I asked if a small, unoccupied room could be opened so that my husband could work, I was told, “We don’t open the rooms for guests. Try the library.” Then the guest services representative hung up. The staff at the pools are not helpful. When I asked where the lost and found was so that I could deposit a pair of child’s sunglasses that I had found, the man just stared at me and said, “I don’t know.” The fine dining options are really overpriced and the food is not well prepared. Service is slow and the menus are incredibly dirty. Fish at The Cove was excellent; beautiful restaurant, delicious food, and great service. The casino is under construction and there is strong mildew odor emanating from the location of the Moon bar (which is closed). The carpet is gross. Several slides were also closed, including the signature Challenger. The rock wall by the Rapid River was also closed, as was the Lazy River. The fitness center is small and several machines are out of order (yet no signs indicating as such). We used babysitting services one night. The babysitters were professional and kind. I was very impressed with the ease of arranging the babysitters and with the staff who helped us. The beach at the Cove is really beautiful and well maintained. All in all, I would not recommend this hotel.

We loved the Bahamas. Paradise Island is beautiful and the water was pretty clear and comfortable (April). The staff at Atlantis is mixed as far as their demeanor. Some are friendly but some, surprisingly, have some attitudes. I never really experienced that at a resort (and I don't believe we are needy people). My girlfriend got hurt in the Rapid River ride. She has a deep bruise and scrape from hitting concrete going down the river. Unreal. Why would they build a ride like that. A man was taken away for whiplash right before we went on. Someone else told us the same thing happened to her friend. A pattern? Fix the ride! We stayed off the water rides the rest of the trip. We got to the hotel early (9am) and our room wasn't ready until 4pm. We slept in the lobby for hours so be prepared to go out and about if you get there early. Overall, I would say it's a lovely place. I hope whoever reads this heads some of the warnings. Update: they gave a small credit of $150 for our trouble and will credit the resort fee. Dinner averages around $200 so the credit is minimal here. They asked us what we wanted. Although management was nice, It was very uncomfortable and handled wrong. Why ask us what we want, why not just follow a procedure and show the concern? About 50 percent of the people that work here seem unhappy. Every single thing you purchase asks for a tip on top of VAT and built in 15 percent tip. If you don't add any more tip on top of 15 percent (sometimes I didn't, some things didn't seem like an additional tip on top of the 15 percent scenario) they always cancel the transaction and make you do it again. It seems they either want to make you uncomfortable by not leaving more tip or they make you rethink it. Terrible. I dropped a fortune here and although we enjoyed the sun and grounds, I would not be back and I don't suggest any of my followers to come here. I suggest an all inclusive or, if you are rich, come and ignore these issues. Hopefully there aren't any other medical issues to what happened.
