More Than Just Ice: Bowling and Games Funland is also home to the biggest bowling alley in Bahrain, boasting 18 top-class lanes. It remains a beloved spot for a casual game or serious league play. The staff are noted for being friendly and helpful, making the experience enjoyable regardless of any minor maintenance quirks. This is without a doubt, the worst bowling experience I’ve ever had. From the moment I walked in, it was clear that this place was in desperate need of some serious maintenance and management.
First off, the air conditioning was completely non-functional. they had put fans around the place in an attempt to cool it down instead of fixing the air conditioning. What are a few fans going to do in a big place like this? It was impossible to enjoy a game when you’re sweating buckets just standing there.
The lanes were in terrible condition. They were old and poorly maintained, with outdated machines that frequently malfunctioned. Oftentimes, the pins were not set up correctly, and the machines would get stuck, leaving you with no pins to knock down. To make matters worse, the ball return system was unreliable, and a couple of my balls returned damaged. Additionally, the foul line sensors were overly sensitive, often giving fouls even when you weren’t close to crossing the line. It was incredibly frustrating to play on these lanes.
The toilets were absolutely disgusting. They were filthy, smelled horrible, and clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. It was a health hazard just to step inside. To make matters worse, the prayer room was located right next to the toilets, and the foul smell permeated into the prayer area. The prayer room itself was in a terrible condition, with a nasty, old rug that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years.
Overall, I would strongly advise anyone considering a visit to funland to look elsewhere. There are plenty of other bowling alleys that offer a much better experience. Save your time and money, and avoid this place...
Read moreComing from an experienced hockey player - The Ice rink isn't kept in greatest condition, and it's quite small. Rentable skates are terrible, Ive got a permanent scar due to a broken skate I rented once. Definitely suggest bringing your own. As for bowling and billiards, it's pretty average. The food was definitely mediocre and needs improvement. The restrooms are kept in horrific conditions. Prices have gone up recently. The place is a favorite among locals and is the only ice rink in Bahrain at the time of writing, but it needs refurbishment. Overall; Ice skating - 2/5 Bowling - 3/5 Billiards - 3/5 Food - 1/5 Restrooms - 1/5 Price for quality 2/5...
