I donāt usually leave reviews, but unfortunately this place has pushed me to leave my first one.
Me and my partner went to this restaurant after seeing good reviews online, as well as some YouTube video recommendations. And I would like to say - we really do not recommend this place!
Although the service and ambiance were really nice, the mussels were tasteless, overcooked and hugely overpriced. Probably the worst mussels Iāve ever had to be honest, and Iāve tasted some of the best sitting on a curb near borough market. For Ā£8!
I paid ā¬28 for the ācherry tomato and basilā mussels, which included a total of 5 completely raw cherry tomatoes, a watery sauce, raw celery & onion, and flavourless, overcooked, gritty mussels. It was a complete rip off. Not to mention my partners meal, which was āwhite wineā version, which Iām pretty sure was just some cheap white wine poured in cold...
I can assure you itās a rare occasion that I donāt finish a meal, but I really had to work hard to even eat half of this one. Not to mention the wine was also overpriced, that was the most uninspiring grillo from Sicily Iāve tasted for a healthy price of ā¬24. Plus the fact that they donāt serve tap water, so we were charged another ā¬5.50 on top just to be hydrated.
Safe to say I hope this review can be taken on by other potential customers who might be fooled by the ambiance, nice staff and other glowing reviews. It is a tourist trap and please avoid this place at all costs if you appreciate nice...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMade a reservation here for the night we arrived. I definitely recommend this because even when I called they were quite busy and I had to be on hold for a minute. If you donāt want to make a reservation there are a small number of tables they donāt reserve (or so it seemed)
The restaurant is built vertically with three floors connected by a spiral staircase and the toilet on the top floor. The atmosphere is really nice: a mix of classical and modern design.
The restaurantās name means Chicken (&) Mussels so I assume those are their specialties although none of us ordered either one. There is only one vegetarian option (a lasagne), and at the back of the menu several 3 course meals that are an amazing deal.
As a party of three we had a wine, a beer, and (a quite large) gin and tonic. For food we had shrimps in curry sauce, salmon, and beef stew; all of them came with salad and fries and were quite good. If you want sauce with your fries you should order that upfront as they are quite busy and donāt have the time to check on you constantly. Before your meal you are given bread, crackers, and pitted olives.
Later, a man who seemed to be the manager asked how our food was and had a small chat with us.
The entire experience was great and our bill totaled a bit over 80⬠(a good deal considering...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe ate there yesterday for dinner without a reservation. Food was absolutely delicious. We had the mussels and the half chicken and managed to share it even on a small table. Both were incredible. The fries were also the best I had in Brugge, which was a welcome surprise.
Took away 1 star because of the service. It was busy when we got in and the staff was kind, but we waited 20 min to get a drink and have them take our order. Food arrived at a reasonable time, but I truly felt as if we were being ignored. I could not get the staff to notice us and provide us with anything else to drink throughout our meal. Worst part was we were directly next to the food elevator, so they passed us over and over. I almost got up to grab and shoulder tap a waiter for water, but my gf didnt want me to come across rude. Honestly the worst experience in 4 nights of Brugge in terms of being waited on. Even when the restaurant died down we still couldnt get a waiter for drinks. They had no problem giving us the check on time though haha.
But the food was truly good and the entire staff had a smile and were kind. I would come back again but I may order 3 drinks at once so I have something to drink...
