Tervuren park is a really beautiful park, with gorgeous lakes and some nice forest. It's essentially an extension of the Sonian Forest, which is enormous and also beautiful.
However you know that from all the other positive reviews, so let me highlight one aspect of it that needs to be changed:
There is a road open to motor vehicles, the Capucijnenpoortdreef, running along the western edge of the park (inside it), from the point where it meets up with the Sonian Forest to the corner by Tervuren village. Parks should not be open to cars to start with, but this is particularly frustrating, because:
This road runs immediately parallel to another road, Duisburgsesteenweg. They're separated by literally a few metres (and the park wall). There's absolutely no need for the road inside the park, it just duplicates the one outside the park. It serves as an access road to a few small car parks in that part of the park, but it would be trivially easy to connect these to the Duisburgsesteenweg. It's baroquely ridiculous.
It's the only remotely straight route through that part of the park. If you want to walk or cycle from the edge of the forest into Tervuren, you have the choice of heading radically out of your way, by going deep into the park, and then back out again, more than doubling the distance; or, despite being in a park, going along a trafficked road (and somehow, even though it goes from nowhere to nowhere, there are always cars on it).
The road shouldn't be there at all, but if it is there, it should at least have a footpath, fcol. (It doesn't).
There's also a section in the north-east of the park that's a combination of a road and car park, and again, no segregated footpath. Again, it's supposed to be a park; keep cars out of it.
Finally, it's a shame that the cafe - the Spanish House - on the edge of the lake is no longer open in the evening.
These issues only affect a small part of the park though, and other than that...

Read moreHuge and great park, around 10km east of Brussels. The park is green and well kept, with all types of trails for horses, hikers, bicicles, walking, and families. The main attraction of the park is the Africa Museum and the grounds outside of it. At the edge of the park is the Mille Bistro (a great restaurant, especially in summer), and the Kolonienpalais (a big palace overlooking the N3 connecting Brussels and Tervuren). In the middle of the park in also the Spaans Huis (a old spanish hut) which has recently been renovated and turned into a posh cafe. The park offers a lot of wildlife such as ducks and swans, near the lake. There are also some more forested areas to escape the heat of the day. Overall great and...
