My sister and I just had dinner at this restaurant earlier this evening which we ran into while wandering around the area. We ordered 3 dishes, green mango salad, pineapple fried rice with shrimps and squid and a deep fried whole fish. My sister thought the salad was salty but it was still edible for me. She liked the fried rice but we both agreed that it was lukewarm and extremely skimmed on protein. We both liked the fried fish, fresh and meaty. We were telling each others that we would come back again for more of the fried fish. While we were waiting for our food, a female staff (owner?)that we later found her pictures posted on this forum, walked around engaging other patrons in similar conversations like how long they were here and which places they had visited and so on, a wonderful customer experience that would make one feel, isn’t it? However, for some reasons, she never cared to even said hi to us. At first, I told my sister that she must have timed herself so that she would get to us once we were done with our meals. But no, we were completely left out, completely invisible even though we were sitting next to the other 3 tables that she talked to. Don’t get us wrong. We are no snowflakes. When we eat out, we care most about the food quality, cleanliness and attentive service. We welcome conversations but don’t expect any extra attentions from restaurant staff. However, the behavior of this individual is unacceptable; she made us feel as if we Asians were not worthy than the rest of the Caucasians sitting around us for her mission to earn positive reviews. Service staff were polite and warm just like other joints in Siem Reap. Unfortunately, her behavior has dampened our experience. I don’t write reviews especially if it’s a negative one but our experience deserves to be shared...
Read moreAn Unforgettable Culinary Experience! I cannot say enough good things about Sambo Khmer Thai Restaurant! I was recommended this place by fellow travelers who raved about it, and they were absolutely right. During my stay in Siem Reap, this restaurant was a true highlight. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making me feel at home right away.
The food was simply fantastic! Each dish was delicious and freshly prepared. I was truly impressed by the high quality of the ingredients and the careful preparation. Here, you can be confident that the food and the processing meet the highest hygiene standards. This allowed me to enjoy my vacation worry-free, without concerns about my health. I particularly want to highlight the aromatic curry and the crisp, fresh vegetable dishes—it's clear that everything is made with love and dedication!
The service was outstanding as well. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, always ready to offer recommendations and ensure that I had everything I needed. This personal touch really enhanced my evening and made the experience even more special.
The location of the restaurant is perfect too. It’s easily accessible from many hotels, making it an ideal spot for a relaxing dinner after a long day of sightseeing.
I wholeheartedly recommend visiting this gem. If you’re in Siem Reap, don’t miss the opportunity to dine at this wonderful restaurant. I will...
Read moreWe found this little tradition restaurant on TripAdvisor and let me share that it was absolutely fantastic. We came quite late and still had time to have a 3 course meal with a couple of cocktails. The service was extremely attentive, fast and our waitress was super helpful in recommending us the traditional local foods. Our starters were the traditional soup and the green mango salad (you must try!!!), followed by the fish amok and chicken red curry, which were served with a delicious brown rice. For desert we had the banana rolls with ice cream, which was perfect to complete our meal. The portions are generous but not exaggerated, which was perfect for us as we wanted to try several dishes without feeling too full. In the end the waitress who was serving us also offered to take some photos in front of their beautifully decorated walls, which was really nice of her. For us, the cost of meals is not a problem, but for everything we had, which was 2 cocktails, one bottle of water, 2 starters, 2 mains and one dessert, the bill came about to 25 dollars, which is on the low cost side, specially for the amazing food and service quality you get! So, if you're ever in Siem Reap, just make time to go there because it was one of the best meals we had in...
