Khmer Grill was our first exposure to Khmer cuisine. Was our first evening at Siem Reap. Arrived late in the evening from Phnom Penh by bus. Were hungry and sleepy and went to this place, which was nearby to our hotel. First thing which struck was the hospitality of the staff, ever smiling and ready to help. We had little idea about what to choose, but found that the menu has some similarity with Thai cuisine. We finally ordered Banana Flower Salad (entirely new to us), Fried Spring Rolls, Kor Ko Soup Chicken with steamed rice, Fried Noodles Chicken and Mango Sticky Rice (dessert). The salad was extraordinary. In India we cook banana flower as a vegetable curry option, but never had an idea that a salad could be made out of it. The accompanying vegetables were fresh and filling. The spring rolls were healthy with adequate vegetable filling and tasty, as well. The kor ko soup was new to us, but was very pleasant to taste, light, flavorful and with rice gives a soothing effect. The noodles were enriched with vegetables and chicken with an egg omlette on top and very tasteful, indeed. The final show stealer was the mango sticky rice, never had a dessert like this before, tasty, light and not too sweet, perfect way to end the meal. The portions were more than enough and price very reasonable. We returned to our hotel with a refreshing feeling.

Friendly staff who were very willing to give recommendations and explanations of what their dishes consist of. We ordered the chicken amok (soup), grilled chicken wings, morning glory, and beef skewers. It sounds like a lot for two people, but the dishes are not big. Skewers and chicken wings were like appetizers. Skewers came in 3 sticks and chicken wings consisted of two small drum sticks and two wings. It came with a pepper sauce which was a nice addition to go with your bbq food. The chicken amok was yum, it’s kind of like a soupy curry, good with rice. Chicken was a bit dry though. As for the morning glory, it was stir fried with oyster sauce. Personally, not a huge fan of oyster sauce but go for it if you like. Prices here are fair. It is your standard Cambodian restaurant here.

Came here after a long day of sight seeing with my wife’s extended family that lives in Battambang and just outside Siem Reap. I just picked the placed based on positive reviews, but realized we kind of made a mistake when we arrived and I noticed most patrons were tourists. The juices and shakes were really good, no complaints there. The food on the other hand left a lot to be desired. It is typical of what one would find in an American Thai restaurant, the flavors were very bland and confusing. My wife’s soup wasn’t sour enough, the ribs were extremely dry and tough and had no flavor, no lemongrass, no juiciness. Beef Lok Lak was extremely tough and my daughter had difficulty finishing it despite it being her favorite Khmer dish. I had a feeling most of the food was pre-prepared, my son’s meal took the longest and arrived after most of us were done: a sandwhich. Its sad to me that it can be so hard to find good authentic Khmer food in Siem Reap of all places, partially I blame tourists who come looking to eat Pad Thai. I understand catering to both cuisines, but I found neither to be sufficient.

Despite the overwhelming number of positive reviews, we were not impressed and left with a valuable lesson: highly rated restaurants are often rated by tourists who may not fully understand the nuances of local cuisine. Many seem satisfied with good presentation, reasonable prices, and the fact that they didn’t get food poisoning. This experience taught us a few things to watch out for in the future: when the restaurant staff speaks excellent English, it’s often a sign that the place is aimed at tourists, which can be a red flag for authenticity. Another clue is the lack of locals dining there. Unfortunately, the food was below average. While the service and presentation were fine, the actual flavours didn’t live up to the hype. All in all, if you're looking for genuine local food, this is probably not the right spot.

I thought this place would be amazing based on the reviews but actually it was quite disappointing. The staff were really nice but the food was below average. I ordered spring rolls with chicken amok and rice, a side order of green vegetables and a passion fruit juice. The high point was the chicken amok but the portion was very small. The passion fruit juice never arrived. The spring rolls were awful. They were filled with some kind of soft starchy filling. I’m pretty sure they were packaged frozen type spring rolls. The guy at the table next to me ordered ‘fresh’ spring rolls and they did look quite good but obviously I didn’t get to taste them. $10 is a lot to spend on a meal in Cambodia. I wish I spent it at a street food restaurant. I’m going to eat street food from now on. I think it’s much better.

I was eating @many places in Siem Reap before I discovered this lil heaven - and can tell you, I stopped looking for any other places since I found them. Not only their staff is absolutely professional and pleasant, but EVERY SINGLE ITEM ON THE MENU I tried was divine. You can choose from local and some Thai meals, and from what I can tell, they are all made to a perfection... we tried everyday something different - white fried noodles, yellow fried noodles, grilled pork ribs, grilled shrimps, coconut soup with rice and lime... and EVERY SINGLE TIME - it was just perfect. And before you ask, no, they are not overpriced, their prices are very reasonable for the area. If you that lucky that you’re staying close by (we were), don’t hesitate and visit this place. It is simply a must.
