I was walking down Main Street in Canmore September 2021 and looked into the Ken Hoehn Gallery as my eyes were drawn to an amazing photo of a waterfall that jumped out at me. Upon entering, I was blown away by the amazing photos of my favourite Alberta areas - The Three Sisters, Moraine Lake, Johnston Canyon, and so many other mountain ridges and of course, all the amazing wildlife this area has to offer.

It was then I was greeted by Rob, who wasn’t the cameraman, but spoke such eloquently and detailed about each photo as through he was there himself. I FaceTimed my wife who was back in Ontario and showed her some of the pieces I fell in love with. As there were too many to choose from, I decided to wait until December when we were out together to decide which ones we wanted. I still went back again by myself the next day to look again, and that’s when I met Ken Hoehn.

If you think Ken is an amazing photographer, you’ll be equally impressed by his storytelling abilities. They say a picture can say a thousand words, and I would say that for each of Ken’s photos, he can also say a thousand words. Every piece has an incredible story of how the picture became a reality - the weather, the scenery, the background - all important to Ken to share with his audience. Although these stories made me want to take some right away, I had to wait for my wife to help decide.

My wife and I returned in December with our one daughter to make some decisions as to pieces and sizes. Because we couldn’t completely decide in the showroom, Ken and Kylie came to our suite and spent almost 4 hours mocking up the art pieces we were interested in and showing us not just how it would look on the walls, but discussed with us the different glosses that would best fit the indoor and outdoor lighting in our suite to maximize the artwork. After a great evening, we finally decided on the 5 pieces we wanted.

Ken was amazing at keeping us up to date on arrival times and even set up the installation of our pieces. We were super excited to return to Canmore in March 2023 to see our suite with our new artwork. WOW. That’s all we can say. WOW. But, it wasn’t enough. We visited Ken again at the gallery because we had another wall that we needed to add a piece for. So we did. And a couple days later, we had to return to the gallery for 2 more pieces that we really wanted and made space for on our walls.

We had to wait until our current trip, here now in July 2022, to see the final outcome. The first photo I fell in love with was the last to be installed. What I wanted was to be blown away by the entrance into our suite, the same way I felt walking down Main Street and looking into the gallery. Well, when we arrive, boom. It was there. That WOW factor. When you walk into our suite, you feel as though you are at Johnston Canyon - right in the middle of the mountains, surrounded by rocks and trees and the beautiful waterfalls. As you walk through the suite, you can’t help but feel like you are in a mountain town, surrounded by amazing images of mountains and wildlife, captured in a moment of time, for you to continue to admire and be in awe of their beauty.

With 8 pieces so far, we can’t express enough how grateful we are for Ken and his eye which has captured so many amazing moments-in-time that we and our guests can enjoy even if we can’t make it outside to experience our own adventures. One doesn’t even have to leave our suite to experience the mountains and the wildlife, even in different seasons.

Thank you Ken and your Team for amazing customer service, amazing artwork, and an amazing friendship that has formed, all because the Life Choices piece jumped out at me from your back wall in the gallery to Main Street as I was walking by. We look forward to more pieces down the road, in another suite, since we have no more open walls here.

All our best Ken and Team, Mark &...

We entered the Ken Hoehn Gallery out of curiosity after hearing rave reviews from our friend who had visited a few weeks prior. We really didn’t intend to purchase anything initially, but that soon changed as we began looking at one incredible image after another. I felt like a kid in a candy store and was quite honestly, overwhelmed by the sheer beauty and magnitude of the images. I found myself asking the questions, “how did he manage to get that shot at that crazy angle and what impeccable timing was needed to capture that image?” We wandered around the gallery for close to an hour and spent a considerable amount of time with Ken where we learned about the many stories behind his photos. It was then that we began to appreciate the patience, dedication, passion and wildlife knowledge required of the man behind the lens. This helped us understand how he was able to capture some of those stunning moments. We finally settled on a print titled “Circle of Life, Baby” which is not only a striking image, but it has a meaningful story behind it that truly completes Ken’s vision of this photo. Our overall experience in the gallery with Ken and his son Jesse was very positive. Relaxing, no pressure to buy, professional, patience in answering all of my questions, great communication (verbally and electronically) and an overall excellent level of customer service. I would highly recommend the Ken Hoehn Gallery to anyone interested in acquiring exceptional images of wildlife and nature. And may I add – when shopping for that perfect image, please take the time to ask about the story behind it. It will add so much more value to your investment and I know that Ken would be more than happy to share...

We visited the art gallery in Canmore Gallery and fell in love with Ken's art. Ken has such wonderful emotion and stories to go with most of his photos. I love that he looks at them as stories and not just photos!

We initially were introduced to Ken's art by his employee Matt. Matt was very knowledgeable about the art and Canmore in general. As someone who grew up there he knew more than most people that we had spoken with. He even took us out back to show us several mountain ranges, their names and what the best hikes were!

That said we went thought about it and went back to purchase a few pieces. When we returned Ken was in the gallery. He gave us so much help when deciding on sizes and which photos went together the best. He even asked to see pictures of our home so he could ensure we were making the best choices for us and our space. He is so down to earth and truly cares for people and his work.

I fell in love with "See Love Dancing in the Light" and my husband fell in love with "Moraine". We decided to get 2 other pieces to go beside "Moraine" in our kitchen. So we also got "Distant Thunder" & "The Gatekeeper". Ken again helped us decide on sizes and we are sure they will look amazing!

Bonus! They can ship 4 in a box for the price of 1!

I can not say enough about Ken, his employees in the Canmore gallery and his amazing work! If you are in the area it is a must to stop by! If not...check out the on line gallery. You will not be...
