Was looking for a place last minute to watch the Euro Cup finals, and they were able to accommodate our group of six. It’s not a sports bar and not all of the TVs had working audio but it got the job done. We arrived around 1pm but noticed that they have 40% off all food and drink from 2-4pm (Sunday to Thursday). We ordered some truffle parm fries to start but they had no issue with us waiting until 2pm to put in the rest of our food and drink orders which we noticed most other groups doing as well. Truffle parm fries which were great and had a strong truffle flavour. The pork tacos were quite good, as well as the Canadian bison burger (which wasn’t too gamey). The summer berry salad and chicken and corn soup were nice as well. Overall portion sizes were quite large. I also got the Italian beermosa which was strong and refreshing. Ambiance is rustic and casual, they have a nice patio as well. Service was efficient and polite although not the warmest. Despite most diners putting in their food orders all at the same time, our dishes came out quickly.

Tavern 1883 is a gem in the heart of this bustling tourist area. On a recent visit, we were extremely impressed by the excellent service we received. Despite the rainy weather, the staff quickly came out to the patio with an umbrella to ensure we stayed dry and comfortable. They also thoughtfully brought us warm blankets to ward off the chill. The real star of the show, however, was the bison burger. It was absolutely delicious - the patty was perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the toppings complemented it beautifully. You can tell they use high-quality, fresh ingredients. As a dog-friendly establishment (with a dog menu!), Tavern 1883 was the ideal spot for our group. The staff were wonderfully accommodating, making sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal with our furry companion. Overall, the combination of superb service, a fantastic bison burger, and a dog-friendly patio makes Tavern 1883 a must-visit for anyone exploring Canmore. We left feeling satisfied and impressed by the exceptional experience.

Went here two times while on vacation. Food is amazing. We did the deal where Monday-Friday you get 40% off which is amazing! The BBLT is what I got both times and would get that again. The first guy we had as a waiter was amazing! So kind and helpful. However the second time we came back the girl that we had as a waitress never came over to our table except for one time to give us water and then when it came to paying she did mine first and I left a tip (as I usually do even if the service wasn’t great) however when the other person I was with finished paying the waitress got extremely upset because they didn’t tip “enough” and started making comments about how we saved money on the deal and should be tipping more. I tipped enough for both of us anyways. Just really disappointed with the service the second time. But again the guy the first time was amazing!!

After a long day of hiking, this place really hit the spot. We came straight from our hike for an early dinner at 4 and it was already fairly crowded, but there were a handful of open tables. We got two burgers: the wild boar burger and the ultimate tavern burger. We wanted to try the duck nuts but unfortunately, they were out. I may have a skewed viewpoint since I just finished hiking 10 miles and was starving, but I think these were the best burgers I've ever had. The flavor of the meat was incredibly and the toppings were delicious. We upgraded to parmesan truffle fries which were equally good with fresh shaved parmesan. The service was awesome. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and had great recommendations. Our food came out pretty quickly and they were very attentive. If you're in Canmore it Banff, I would definitely recommend coming here.

This is a fun spot to grab a few drinks and relax. We came in after a long day of travel and were able to seat outside on the patio. Loved that option. Ordered a couple beers - thank god for a rotating sour - and settled into the evening breeze. Eventually we also ordered some food. There’s a good variety - burgers, tacos, fish, etc. Feeling slightly compelled by being in country, we got the Canadian burger. Really good. Fun twist on a bison burger with a sweet & sour (yes) bacon and some other toppings. We also enjoyed the fish n chips. That fish was delicious - fried perfectly that the filet inside practically melted. Service was pretty good throughout - though it because difficult to get attention after the staff noticed a famous YouTuber was also there for dinner. That was a wild thing to witness lol. Overall, it was a solid intro to Canmore!

We ordered takeout from Tavern 1883 last night, and sadly it was a huge disappointment. Their menu sounded interesting with all the game meats and that was why we decided to give it a try. It also scored high enough on Yelp and Google. Everything was salty, but the worst was the poutine. It was unbearably salty. If you have to watch your sodium intake, avoid this place. The 1 star is for the person answering the phone who did take the time to ask the kitchen if the poutine is usually made like this. My husband and family are from Montreal, Quebec, so he knows how it's supposed to taste and even he had to admit it's overly salty. I also found a hard piece (like cartilage) in the elk meatballs. I don't mind cartilage if I'm eating off the bone, but not in a meatball.
