Went to the downtown YVR bookstore first, to look for a sweatshirt as a gift. They didn't have the one I was looking for online but recommended the Burnaby store. The Burnaby store is a lot bigger and had an excellent selection of high quality clothes with a lot of small gift items and stationery. I ended up buying a hoodie that wasn't shown online, at a price that was lower than the one I originally looked for. The staff were helpful and friendly. It's a cute store that's nicely laid out with clothing (mostly sweatshirts) in a separate area. The day I came in, you got a free gift with every $10 purchase (an SFU mug), plus a free draw for bookstore gift cards (I drew $15). Read moreMost of the stuff that I see there are outside of a student's budget (overpriced luxury bottled water, $10 cup cozies, and record players?). Sure, they are trendy and hip, but they aren't what we really need as students. They got a good selection of stationeries and office supplies though. In the end, this place is great for window shopping, not for spending money on Minor rant: if you walked around campus, you would see there are many Surface Pro users (including me). However, the bookstore doesn't sell AAAA battery, which powers our stylus. If they do, that'd be great so i could stop ordering it...

There were lots of students running to try to catch their closing time only to be disappointed the gates were already closed. If anything, back-to-school period (even just the 1st week) should have adjusted hours to accomodate new students and those with class times that dont coincide with the bookstore hours and still have...
