Update: PERMANENTLY CLOSED (Covid ruined it). SFU NOW HAS NO PUB OR ANYTHING. It's a cool place - they've done a good job with the renovation and concept. Good service too. And a solid happy hour menu. But I have a huge complaint: the menu is basically the same as the Town Halls on paper, and the food prices are the same (high for pub fare), yet the quality of the food is generally way worse. They seem to be charging the same but choosing to lower the quality a lot. The burger buns are poor and the burgers in general are composed worse and are of lower quality with smaller patties, the beef in the beef dip meat is SO dry it's almost jerky, the pasta is bland, all of their bread items seem less than fresh, and the presentation of all the dishes is worse than at the other JRG pubs. I don't understand it. Why is the food quality so much worse at this location compared to the other places in the chain?? I expect way more from the food at a Joseph Richard establishment. Given the lower quality, the food prices are insane. Either improve the food or...
Read moreServers are not well trained on plant-based/vegan modifications. I was told the first two visits that the plant-based section was 100% vegan, so I had the tacos and the burger. My third visit, the server stopped and told me that the burger patty is not vegan, and the mayo on the tacos have to be taken off. 👍🏼 Kind of annoying, but at least someone finally corrected it. My fourth most recent visit, I asked for tacos to be made vegan, and they were brought out with mayo. The server never came back around to check, so after 30 minutes I asked someone to grab her. She tried to tell me that the mayo was vegan and she didn’t know what about it wouldn’t be. After what felt like a bit of soft argument, she took it back to ask the kitchen. Surprise, it wasn’t. Had to wait like an hour just to eat, and she didn’t really offer to do anything about it. Good for drinks, not great for...
Read moreFirst time coming to the Study Public house and I was not disapointed. I was greeted swiftly and warmly by Jenna. We had a lovely conversation about local theater and fun hotspots in Vancouver to go visit.
Once seated I had a chance to fully take in the fantastic views of the location. Overlooking Burnaby on the patio was truly a breathtaking sight.
Our server Andrea reccomended that I have the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich. Let me tell you, I have never experience more bliss than this here sandwich. It was the perfect levels of Crispy and juicy.
My partner is Vegetarian and we were pleasently surprise to have a full menu with Veg and Gluten free options.
All in all I give it a 10/10 and...
