We were at SFU and I decided to try ordering some bubble tea drinks from the Ben Gong's Tea store in the MBC Food Court. They happen to be on the Fantuan App so I ordered our drinks using Fantuan. I ordered a Pu'erh Sparkling Tea for my husband and Pu'erh Milk Tea at 50% sweetness for myself.
Pu'erh Sparkling Tea: A huge disappointment. We couldn't detect any sparkle in it, it wasn't at all sweet, and was very much lacking in flavor.
Pu'erh Milk Tea: This drink was wonderful. It was very tasty and instead of the usual sphere shaped pearls that bubble tea drinks usually contain, it had these cube shaped jellies in it. These cubes seem to be what Ben Gong's Tea is known for as I had seen them in photos many times in the past before we finally tried out this location of Ben Gong's Tea store. I enjoyed the cube shaped jellies. They were fun to chew on and felt lighter in my stomach than pearls, which left more room in my stomach for dinner afterwards. My one complaint about this drink is that while it was tasty, it was...too tasty?! This is the drink that I had ordered at 50% sweetness. We suspect that they mixed up our drinks by making this Pu'erh Milk Tea at 100% sweetness and making the Pu'erh Sparkling Tea at 50% sweetness.
Service: Fair Our drinks were ready in timely manner; in fact they were ready for pickup ahead of the time that I had selected on Fantuan, and the people working conducted themselves with the average manners that might be expected anywhere else. Yes, we do think they mixed up the sweetness levels of our drinks, but people do mistakes from time to time. So, rather than mark them as "poor" for the mistake, I rate them as Fair.
Parking: Paid parking in the parking lots at SFU. Location: At the MBC food court inside the Maggie Benson...
Read moreIf I had the option to give zero stars, I would. The staff displayed unprofessional behavior, including poor customer service and dismissive attitudes. My friend’s order was prepared incorrectly, and instead of remaking the drink, they attempted to remove the toppings, which was an action that could pose serious health risks if a customer had allergies.
The place also lacked basic sanitary practices. Milk that should have been refrigerated was left sitting out on the counter, the workspace was messy and unclean, and spills were not addressed, but instead laughed at and joked between the coworkers. When I asked for my drink to be resealed because the lid was not properly secured and was spilling, the staff responded with visible irritation and returned the drink by slamming it down without a word.
It was also concerning to overhear the staff questioning one another about which tea to use for a specific drink, only for one to suggest that “any tea” would be ok. Keep in mind this was done in another language and I’m assuming they didn’t know that I understood them. This demonstrates a lack of training and disregard for product quality. The drink I received appeared to be hastily thrown together without proper care or consistency.
Overall, this establishment shows a lack of professionalism, sanitation, and respect for its customers. Thinking that no one knows what they’re speaking. I strongly do not recommend this...
Read moreThis boba place is honestly so mid. I really did give it a chance , I really wanted to like it even as I NEED EASY ACCESS BOBA. But even with the chances , the milk tea drinks did not hit hoollyyy, it was sooooo diluted and the toppings might as well not have been there. Like I needed to get another cup of bubble tea somewhere good to clear my mouth from that tea cube milk tea. When I had their fruit teas , I was like you can't mess this up, but they did, it was diluted af and the flavor wasn't there.
TLDR:Guys just don't come here , just ride the 143 to burquitlam and get coco , at least you will be satisfied even if it...
