Adorn Boutique — Attraction in Calgary

The customer service at this store was the worst I have ever experienced in Calgary. Despite there being only one other customer in the store, my request to try on two sizes of my chosen dresses was completely mishandled. The staff member with short hair gave me the same size of the same dress twice. When I asked another employee for a smaller size, she said she would look for one but then disappeared and never returned.

As I prepared to leave, the short-haired staff member questioned if the dresses worked for me. I explained that I hadn't had the opportunity to try on the smaller size because no one came back. She immediately became rude and defensive, claiming, "I gave you two sizes." I corrected her, stating that she had given me the same size twice and that no one returned with the other size. She sarcastically replied, "Oh, so I made a mistake and then I didn't come back quickly enough for you?"

Who talks to customers this way? I was left standing undressed, waiting for a dress, with no communication about the delay. Despite only having two customers in the store, they failed to provide even a basic level of customer service and displayed an ugly attitude. Such a cute little shop with lots of selection of clothes especially formal dresses! I ended up getting a dress from them which I really loved the moment I saw it online. Upon entering, we were told that we can approach them if we are looking for any other size. I had a dress in my mind already (planned on purchasing it online but wanted to try it on in person) so I asked for my size but one of their staff dismissed me right away and they don’t carry it in my size. I asked her if I could just purchase it online instead since it’s available there but she told me they don’t have it anyway and then I was ready to leave. What I really loved is another girl stepped up and accommodated us!! She told us that she’ll look in the basement and came out with my dress size. The girl at the counter was such a sweetheart too! If that second lady didn’t approach us, we would’ve just left because of the cold treatment. Thankful that the second lady was there and I got the dress that I was eyeing on ever since. I have been an avid customer of Adorn since I discovered it online many years ago. Every time I come home to visit family(I’m from Vancouver Island) I take the time to come visit the shop and almost always purchase something. I was a bit disappointed this week to receive some less than stellar customer service. No peppy greeting, no cheerful banter…just took my items and put them in the room(store was not busy).Though she did grab me a size after I came out looking for one, she didn’t give any compliments or advice :( She was clearly not in a good mood. When I’m buying a $200+ dress I think it’s safe to say the service should be incredible. I left feeling less than excited about my purchase and that is quite a shame. Maybe I’ll just stick to shopping online from Adorn from now on. I’ll still give it a 4 because of my past...
