Fresh & Local Market & Kitchens — Attraction in Calgary

This is basically a food court. Reminds me of the Eau Claire market. We had a "Taste of India" lunch. Mediocre at best. Had the Chana masala on white rice with a side of vegetarian curry and a vegetable somosa. All rather bland. Although the somosa skin was excellent, the filling was again, rather bland, and relatively tasteless. The service was also mediocre, at best. She seemed unable to talk & serve at the same time. Not unpleasant, just a little less than polished. No tap water available, as she had no cups. No apology but she was willing to sell me a plastic bottle of water which is not what I wanted. I won't be back. Not because of the water, but the bland food. 05-23-2023. For a small rice with pulled chicken curry for my father, and a large rice with 2 sides, Chana & veggie curry for me, it cost around $35.00 with a 15% tip. Too much for basically a self serve. Should have tipped maybe $1 or $2. 15% was well over $4 and...

I am sold on buying the tray of 20 Jumbo eggs ..the yolks are literally dark orangy-apricot in color! They taste absolutely rich & heavenly. Yesterday, I poached 2 of them to perfection...!

FYI..a couple of weeks ago I wasn't able to get to this Fresh & Local Farm Store, so I ended buying organic eggs from nearby my place...NOT AGAIN! Large eggs with just yellow yolks and not much taste.

From now on... it's Jumbo eggs all the way from Fresh & Local Farm Store in Avenida Village..an outstanding place to shop with amazing staff that are family!

BTW...I bought a pack of organic purple, orange, yellow & white carrots for the first time. They were exceptionally tasty to cook too!

This place is amazing! I was giddy walking in for the first time. There are so many different types of cuisines to try. If you are looking for authentic foods from around the world, this is the place to be. Everything is locally owned too!

All the vendors are super friendly. The food is all delicious from what I’ve tried. So far I’ve tried Waffle and Chix, Pranzo Italiano, and Nice Meat. I throughly enjoyed everything I ate.

There is also live music too - which I found pretty cool.

This place can get a bit crowded so if that sort of thing isn’t something you can tolerate, this may not be the best place for you.

Overall 10/10. I would recommend this place and I can’t...
