I’m writing this review because someone needs to finally speak up about the ongoing issues at this library. As a young adult and a regular visitor, I’ve experienced and witnessed repeated instances of disrespect, rudeness, and unprofessional behavior from several staff members toward students and younger visitors.
There seems to be a pattern where teenagers are treated as if they don’t belong here, ignored, dismissed, or talked down to. When we ask simple questions like where to find a book, how to print, or how to access a computer, we’re met with sighs, eye rolls, or short, condescending responses. It’s disheartening to see staff members who are supposed to help and support their community, acting this way toward young people who are just trying to learn or study.
It’s not just about one rude interaction. This attitude has become consistent enough that many of us now avoid asking for help at all, which defeats the purpose of a public library meant to serve everyone. The lack of patience and basic respect shown to teens makes the environment feel unwelcoming and judgmental.
There’s also a noticeable lack of diversity among the staff. Every time I visit, it’s the same small group of white, middle-aged employees who all seem equally unhappy to be there. Representation matters, a more inclusive and diverse team could help create a more understanding and respectful atmosphere. Right now, it feels like this library only caters to certain people while making others feel unwelcome.
I’m posting this review not to insult anyone personally, but to hold this place accountable. Teenagers are part of this community, too. They deserve to be treated with respect, patience, and fairness. I truly hope management takes this feedback seriously, reevaluates their customer service standards, and considers diversity and sensitivity training for their staff. No one, especially young people should feel uncomfortable or discriminated against in a public library. If this review and these concerns are ignored, I will escalate this issue to higher authorities and local media. Teenagers deserve respect, this behavior is...
Read moreRead moreHere is my honest review; I have visited this library very often and for a long time (at least 3 years) and I am still disgusted with the library service. I HOPE THEY CLOSE DOWN OR SOME OTHER COMPANY TAKES OVER THIS LIBRARY :(. Right now I am sitting in the children's section disheartened and very very disappointed. Here's why; The books that the library holds are quite old and boring. They do not have a variety of books in my opinion compared to Queens square and Hespler Library Second of all, the staff of the library are very rude and racist towards brown people, muslims, and the lgtbq community. They are also very rude to the st.bennedict students that simply wanted to study at this library.I am a person who has a brown race and I do not feel welcome at this library. Every time I come here , the librarians always roll their eyes at me and never say hello. This is because they think "I am annoying." Also whenever I ask for help, the lazy staff never helps me. They expect me to assist myself lol. Their washrooms are unclean. Very filthy and old with broken toilets that splash water. Very disgusting. They never take a look to fix these washrooms. Fix your attitude and look at what your visitors are saying or no problem I can simply take your keys and lock this library with a...
I visited Cambridge Public Library – Clemens Mills a few days ago with my grandchild. The library is located inside a high school building, so it can feel quite crowded at times. That said, the staff are excellent—very helpful and friendly—and the library offers a great collection of books along with engaging activities for kids. A good spot for families, just be prepared for the...
