I've been coming here since this place opened. I must say that I do not have any complaints. I have yet to have a bad or a hit and miss meal here, but that's just me. Everyone else is different of course.
I must say to the public, that if you're going to be reviewing Chinese Food places like Dragon City, Ginger Express, New China Kitchen, Shanghai Restaurant, etc, or what I like to call these places is the "Canadian version of Chinese Food". As funny or questionable as that sounds, we must review them in that fashion. We can't compare these places to a higher end, more extravagant, and more authentic cuisine places. We have to review them for what they are. And what they are is a Chinese Take Out Food place, period. For people that want something quick, easy, affordable, then these places are for you. Now in the flavor department, Dragon City delivers too.
Dragon City gets a 5 out of 5 stars from me. I know to some people who may read this may think, 5 stars!!?? What are you nuts!!?? I'm reviewing Dragon City for what they specialize in, and they deliver on all counts since the beginning I've been going.
When it comes to the attitudes from employees, I haven't had any issues because I'm respectful. It doesn't cost anything to be nice to people. It is not easy to own and run a business. You're going to have your slow days, and you're also going to have your busy days. So, if you are going to order on the weekend, regardless of whatever time you call, be prepared to wait if possible. You may be lucky and may have your food ready for the times you were expecting but sometimes it doesn't work out that way because of the high volumes and demands on the weekend. I'm only 1 person and sometimes I have to wait 20-30 mins on the weekend when I order. During the week I only wait 8-10 mins and I order ahead of time so when I arrive my food is already done. I just pay, pick up and go. And I'm always respectful regardless. So with that saying, do you see the big difference in wait times when ordering during the week as opposed to ordering on the weekend???? A MASSIVE difference. In the end I'm not there for the people I'm there for the food.
Keep up the good work Dragon City and don't let the negative feedback get to you. And the same goes to the public...please don't let the negative reviews bring you down. Give them a chance and critique them for yourselves and not for what...
Read moreI would give zero stars if I could based solely on the customer service, or lack of. I have ordered from Dragon City for many years and have always been happy until tonight. After waiting close to 2 hours for my delivery to arrive I called the restaurant to find out where my order was. The incredibly rude and condescending girl that answered the phone offered no apology and could be heard asking her manager âwhat do you want to tell themâ, not looking to him to offer the real reason for the delay but instead the âwhat story should I give themâ approach. Not long after our order finally arrived, I asked the driver to wait for payment until I verified the order was correct & also fresh. Upon discovering a potential problem with the order I asked the driver to wait while I contacted the restaurant, the driver became impatient, walked back to his car & left. While verifying the order on the phone with the manager I informed him that his driver left without collecting payment. I of course still wanted to pay but was told no one would come back to collect payment until after 10:00pm or I could drive payment to them. I refused both options and asked that a driver come collect payment immediately, the same rude, unpleasant & offensive girl came on the phone & accused me of stealing!!! Their driver left without collecting payment, I was still willing to pay for the order despite waiting 2 hours and she had the nerve to accuse me of trying to steal food!! Such an embarrassing series of events for this girl and the restaurant that employs her. All employees of Dragon City need to take some lessons in customer service and perhaps then they would retain more customers and improve...

I am a lifelong Chinese food fan, and I can't bear to give up trying to find a good place in or around Cambridge.
Frustration with Dragon City started with their online ordering platform, which wouldn't allow me to choose PICKUP. Fine, I can go old school - so I called in. Very nice you lady took my order, and mentioned I would get free wings or spring rolls due to the order size (if paying cash). Great, I chose the wings! Ok, so I was over the online order disappointment - good start!
I drove (about 20 minutes, drove past 3 other well know Chinese places between West Galt and Dragon City - including sister store New Dragon City which is 2 minutes from my home), and was greeted very warmly by a nice young guy. The place was busy (Friday night) and smelled really good! Food was ready, paid cash, got change, back to the car, and off I went! Smell in the car was amazing, and I wasn't sure it would make it home!
Arrived home, order was correct (that's a plus), so we tucked in.
All of the dishes where a little disappointing. Spring rolls where too greasy. The house special fried rice was boring without much flavour. Steamed dumplings were rubbery, Chicken Soo Guy was ok, nothing special. General Tso's chicken was quite bad. Seemed to be overcooked and under spiced.
Not ready to give up yet, but I can take Dragon City off my list of places...
