Read moreThis review is relating to the Carlos ATM Cake Vending Machine located in Southgate Mall. Let me take you back to Saturday afternoon. My partner and I were out and about, doing some birthday gift shopping at Southgate mall. We were walking around for a while when we stumbled across the famous Carlos ATM Cake Vending machine. I was soo surprised that the mall had one. I hadnt seen one in person, only online, and today was the day I was going to try it. We decided to circle around after our shopping was done. I glanced at the options and excitedly chose the Red Velvet Cake. The price was pretty high - ~$10.50, but i swallowed it knowing that the cake HAS to be worth it. We take off back home and I decide to eat some lunch before I eat my cake. I finished my delicious lunch and excitedly grab the cake from the fridge. I open the clear plastic layer off the top and marvel. It was beautifully red and the cream cheese frosting looked white and smooth. My mouth was watering. I take my spoon and carve out a small corner piece, scoop it into my mouth and take my first bite.... this is where I realized that the cake was SOOO BAD. It tasted like I bit into a moldy, soggy cake. I IMMEDIATELY spit it out... but not before the taste coated my entire mouth. I ran to the bathroom, crying my eyes out, while holding my mouth from spewing. I spent the next 20 mins in the bathroom crying, retching and rinsing my mouth out. I was so disgusted and as someone who is picky about tastes and textures, I was traumatized... I did not eat for the rest of the day because all i could taste/think about was that moldy, soggy piece of hell. DO NOT BUY THIS GARBAGE unless you want to ruin cake for yourselves... I wasn't a cake person before this, but I am for sure not eating cake for a while... I would give this machine a 0 star rating but that isn't possible. I hope this machine is removed so no one may experience the trauma I...
Read moreRecommended to go Shopping, Over the past 40 years Southgate has grown from humble beginnings to become South Edmonton’s largest shopping centre and the city’s premier fashion destination.
Southgate Centre opened its doors for the first time in 1970 to an eager crowd with just 65 stores and services. In the very spot that only a few years prior had been a farmers field now stood Edmonton’s largest shopping centre to date. Anchored by Woodwards, Woodwards Food Floor and The Bay, the centre was a welcome addition to a comparatively quiet rural community. Since then Southgate, and the city of Edmonton as a whole, have grown and matured considerably.
In the four decades following, Southgate has seen three major renovations and expansions, almost tripling the original floorplan, and bringing some of the very best names in fashion to Edmonton. The most recent expansion, completed in 2009, added an unmatched level of refinement to the retail experience in the city.
Today Southgate stands for premier fashion and sophistication in Edmonton, with over 165 exciting stores and services including Edmonton’s largest Hudson's Bay store, along with Michael Kors, lululemon, and Apple. Exclusive retailers to Southgate include Crate and Barrel, Restoration Hardware, and LEGO. Our 2009 expansion added over 30 marquee stores, two sets of hotel-quality washrooms, an expansive food court, two levels of parking, and a host of premier amenities. Southgate is owned and managed by...
