This review is for the bakery section. I like going to this metro, Iâve never had a bad experience ever there. EXCEPT for anytime I go into the bakery section. Like excuse me for trying to get your attention to actually help me get a cake from your display. And to have the nerve to give me sass every time. I thought that as a person working where you have to deal with people on a regular basis, you should at least help the people trying to buy things from your section and not talk back or give some back handed comments when trying to do so. Thereâs two people working in that section but theyâre always back turned and when you try to get their attention they physically look your way; then turn around.. youâre left standing there for another 5-6mins before they even say anything or even acknowledge your there to get something from them. Like I said, this isnât the first time this has happened, and if you really hate your job that much donât work in places where you constantly have to deal with customer. Last time I was left there waiting they asked me from across the room âwhat I wantedâ ⊠to grab a cake from the fridge display?? and when they asked me what one I wanted (still from across the room) I was irked at this point so I pointed to the one I wanted in HOPES that they would actually start walking themselves over to me.. but no.. they asked again.. "what one" so again.. I pointed "this one" then the lady decided to have an attitude instead of coming over.. saying they are trying to help.. REALLY?? cause as far customer service goes thats not how you conduct yourself. So I politely said "you know what? thank you." turned around and took my business to Fortinos where the people working behind ANY counter are glad to help. The lady even gave me sass as I was leaving?? clearly she doesn't want to work there.
get better people working behind your bakery section Barton...
Read moreHate to do this, but I was at Metro a couple of Saturdays ago, during early afternoon and there were only 3 cashiers open and a slew of self-serve cash registers. I'm not a fan of self-serve, nor were the huge line-ups of people with massive quantities of groceries in their carts, prompting unacceptably long wait times to be served by a polite cashier, just for me to complain that it took too long.
They must have a dozen cash registers, but I'll assume close almost all of them so people use self-serve. Eventually, there will be no cashiers and we do all the work and paying the same price.
There are countless negative aspects to self-serve, including less jobs, more opportunity for theft (which will increase cost of groceries) and less human contact in a time where loneliness is an epidemic. I can't understand how big companies don't realize this. AND, down the street, Freshco has no self-serve and I usually have pleasant conversations with the cashier, each time I'm there and pay less.
For the most part, I go to the Hamilton Farmer's Market, but not always feasible.
Get rid of self-serve. It's horrible and...
Read moreI went there because the flyer said a litre of 10% cream was $1.99. when I arrived the price is actually $3.99. To obtain the additional $2 discount I had to download their app, connect it to my Air Miles card, provide them with my email address & permission to send me advertising. So I decided to buy four of them to make up for the inconvenience. When I got to the checkout I was told that I was only allowed to have one of them at that price & the remainder would be charged the regular $4 price. It's a grocery store like any other but the one intrinsic failure of the Metro brand is it they have higher prices than most of the usual fare... I think the only one as expensive or even more expensive than Metro is Sobeys. Consequently, I don't shop there very often... The limit was mentioned in the ad but in text that was so small it was unreadable on a phone. It only became evident when I had an actual printed copy of the...
