we signed up for cooking classes at Relish in Kitchener. It cost 125.00 each and says each person will make 3 dishes and ingredients are supplied. what a DISAPPOINTMENT! Once there the divided us into groups of 2 each group made one dish, the teacher did NOT make a dish she just talked. While making the dish one person stirred while the others sat and did nothing, once the dish came out of the oven we did NOT get the dish we made and the 2 chefs ate some of our food, we were not offered to take any home. The next class was worse, it was rice paper spring rolls, coconut milk chicken thighs and custard for desert. Again we were put into groups, each group made one dish, all we got to do was cut up a few vegetables and stir the chicken. The rice , spring roll sauce and deserts (both times) were premade before the class by the chef! Again we sat doing nothing while the chef made herself a spring roll from the ingredients We paid for. When the chicken thighs were done again the chefs ate from our food we made, Someone spoke up and said he wanted to take some home as he had paid for it. The rest of the class followed but since the chefs had ate from our food there was not enough left for the whole class to take some home. The custard desert was terrible (made by the chef) the eggs in it had turned to scrambled eggs. So in summary for the last class the group of 4 paid 125.00 each total 500.00 they got 2 small chicken thighs each, one carrot, one onion, about 6 small mushrooms, a sweet potatoe, about 1/8 cup of oil, and sauce the chef premade between them for that 500.00 to me thats a rip off especially when the chefs ate from their food and they couldnt take any home. The serve wine at 8 dollar a glass. I will NOT go there again, as the write said each person should have made their own dish and been allowed to take home what they didnt eat there, the chefs should NOT have eaten from the food the clients paid for, and the chef should have made her own dish at the front of the class for us to follow along! When concerns were brought up and asked for 125.00 back since I didnt get to make my own dish and did not get my own ingredients yet paid for them the ownerghosted. Make sure you know what you are getting into before you sign up... THIS WAS A...
Read moreThe small groupings for the cooking classes give a chance to meet up with new friends and other faces that become familiar. The Classes themselves are diverse with something for everyone. Guest Chefs make things even more interesting. I've appreciated their kindness in accommodating my Vegetarian Lifestyle as well. The Studio itself is an intimate state of the art kitchen. The owners and staff of Relish Cooking Studios are down to earth entrepreneurs with a wealth of knowledge and expertise. Everyone is made to feel welcome! Their products are extensive and top of the line, though there is no push to purchase. Good products sell themselves. I always come away with an idea to enhance my own love of cooking while feeling like I've enjoyed a gourmet meal and an evening...
Read moreI left three knives at the store to be sharpened, and the treatment upon pick up was disgusting and unprofessional. As soon as I saw my knives, I noticed they had scratches that weren't there before the service (I had photos). Since my intention was to bring more knives to be sharpened, I asked them if that was their standard and if it was possible to sharpen knives without scratching. I didn't ask for any compensation or refund, just made a question. I was just asking if that was normal. The response was: "THIS IS A $5 SERVICE. IF YOU DON'T WANT SCRATCHES, SHARPEN THEM YOURSELF AT HOME." Naturally, I was very embarrassed by this treatment and will never return to that shop again. Terrible and offensive...
