Renovated recently, and then sold to Smart Centers when Target closed. Many stores have left and have not had their spaces filled. This mall is a hangout for junkies and doesn't feel overly safe. The anchor Walmart is poorly run, and lacks items you'd find at other locations (watch your prices at the tills, you've been warned!). Food court has been half empty for a few years now. Existing businesses here are struggling due to low foot traffic and high theft from undesirables. This place could be turned around with a few higher quality anchor stores and better security. Some other reviewers here seem to be getting confused with Valley Fair Mall a block away with Save on Foods and London Drugs...(which is a tiny mall, but is far better run and safer) Current major stores here are Walmart, Ardene, the Source, Thrifty Foods, and Dollar Tree, with the food court consisting of Subway, A&W a Japanese place, and a bunch of boarded up spaces. Time will tell if the owners decide to fix the problems here or just let it slide and eventually shut it down.
Update: More stores have closed, few new ones have opened to replace them. Kins is gone, the bakery is gone, Rexall is gone, Bentley is leaving, Black Bond Books moved (back) to Valley Fair Mall...something is going on here, but Smart Centers isn't saying what. Looks like they are trying to kick out all the tenants for...
Read moreA massive space being thoroughly under-utilized. It was hard to see actually, when the mall was nearly empty on a Sunday afternoon. I couldn't help but think how much more appropriate it would be to condense the businesses that were still open into one section and have the rest converted into affordable family housing of some sort-seriously! The hallways were wide and quiet and the "food court" consisted of a Subway, A&W, and Tokyo Grill. The star of the show was the 2-level Walmart. One of the mall security guards seemed to have nothing better to do than to stare uncomfortably long in our direction, maybe he was spacing out from boredom. We got our shopping done, had lunch, and got a Purdy's ice cream, but I just couldn't shake the creepy sadness of the place. I guess though, I would highly recommend it for introverts, people with social anxiety, and those who prefer to social distance. Hopefully someone addresses the frivolous waste of space sooner rather than later. I give it a 3 because I'm an introvert and my son often displays limited visuo-spatial awareness and this mall reduced the amount of times he'd normally...
