🇨🇦 3-Night Stay in Montreal! This Hotel is a DREAM 🤩

I recently stayed at the Marriott Montreal Château Champlain, and it was a pleasant return to a city I hadn’t visited in a while. As a Platinum Elite member, I was looking forward to enjoying some of the perks, though my experience had a few mixed elements. First, the M Club Lounge was a real highlight. The food was consistently fresh and tasty, and the ambiance in the lounge made for a relaxing spot to unwind after a day of exploring the city. It was well-stocked with a variety of options throughout the day, and the staff there were friendly and attentive. However, despite my Platinum Elite status, I wasn’t able to secure a suite due to availability. I was told there were no suites left, but I was offered a room on the concierge floor, which provided a nice alternative. The higher-floor room did offer a great view and a bit more peace and quiet, which was appreciated, though I had been hoping for a suite upgrade. While the room on the concierge floor was comfortable and had all the amenities I needed, I did feel the lack of a suite upgrade was a missed opportunity to elevate my experience, especially as a loyal member. That said, the hotel’s service, the quality of the M Club Lounge, and the overall location made up for some of the disappointments. Overall, the Marriott Montreal Château Champlain delivered a solid experience with a few minor hiccups, and I would still recommend it for anyone visiting Montreal, especially for the value and access to the M Club Lounge. I just hope next time I’ll have the chance to enjoy the suite upgrade that Platinum Elite status typically provides.

It was two days and nights of excellence, from the time of arrival until departure. The Montreal Mariott Chateau Champlain is first class. Impeccably clean. Pleasing aroma throughout the hotel. Clean and well kept. Superb and friendly service at the front desk. The staff are bilingual, and graciously accommodated us in English upon realizing we weren't fluent in French. Great housekeeping (daily!). Classy bar and dining facilities, higher end. (Even one of the Habs was seen mingling with patrons after the game on Saturday.) Tasty cocktails and good beer selection. Elegant decor. High-tech, fast, efficient elevators that never made us wait too long. The room was as adverised. Comfy king-size bed. Nice bathroom. Great window with a panoramic view of the city (see photo). Met all expectations. Great location! Close to the Bell Centre and an abundance of downtown bars and restaurants. Safe neighbourhood. Easy to get around on foot, even to get to Old Montreal or the Quartier des Spectacles. Safe underground parking, too, reasonably priced for the area. And the gym! It was so well-equipped, clean, pleasant and spacious, with virtually everything required for a full workout with free weights, machines, cardio equipment, a heavy bag, towels, and a water bar (with beer-style taps for cold, ambiant and even sparkling water). Having stayed at other nice high-end hotels in the city, this is one that made a lasting impression through excellence in every detail rather than just a few things. A first-rate hotel experience.

My 2nd stay at Marriott but this time it was quite different. There is an on going strike between unionized hotel worker and the hotel chain in Montréal. Marriott was not spared as they had to "Lock Out" over 60% of the staff from work due to such Union action. Now I was certainly worried that the service standard and promptness would take a dip especially since I am going to stay for 9 nights! There were signs in the hotel apologizing for the reduced service availability. Certainly not a good sign ... I was however pleasantly surprised that despite the reduced staffing, there were not let down in service upon request. Staff were all super helpful when I request for change of towel or some minor refresh of the room (there were reduced daily housekeeping). Morning breakfast were minimal staffed but still the buffet were adequate. The Team did an amazing job is prepping the breakfast buffet spread, cleaning the table and getting my daily dose of coffee promptly from the barista machine. Again service with a smile. Réception were nice as well. Although I must say that there were some minor hiccups with my laundry on repeated on both occasion but those were promptly resolved. No missing clothes. Slightly disappointed there were no Club Lounge service nor access to Roof terrace bar due to staffing issue. It had been a pleasant stay so far and look forward to enjoying my last weekend in Montreal.

Best location in Montreal!!! From our hotel you could take an elevator down to the Metro station!! We were literally across the street from the Bell Center. I recommend the concierge level. The lounge was always stocked and had excellent options. The staff was amazing!! Everyone was so incredibly helpful and extremely nice. The room was perfection. The beds were extremely firm something my family didn’t love but I’m sure there’s travelers who love it. The room set up was designed for travelers who love to put things away. The room was immaculate and we were provided with many amenities. The water pressure in the shower was incredible. The shower had so many options too. The toilet was magical…lots of buttons and gadgets. The bathroom lighting was great just wished they had a light up magnifying mirror that swiveled for makeup. The pool was closed with no date of when it would be opened. I’m glad I didn’t know that booking because that might of changed our minds. I’m so glad we did stay here. The parking is under the hotel with a quick elevator and a short walk to the lobby. Parking daily is pricey but it’s a city… kind of expected. When we come back this is the only place I can imagine staying.

The only reason I am not giving a bad rate to this location, is the very respectful staff that it has. Last week, my family and I booked two rooms in this hotel. There are some minor renovations going on, but overall it’s a nice place to stay in. For cons, it doesn’t have valet, and also the parking they have belongs to a third party. So generally speaking, parking is an issue. The connecting door between the two rooms was recently painted, and due to the poor painting job, we couldn’t close the door, and also, pain was all over the floor. The thermo was locked on a certain temperature, and it would made the room extremely cold during the nights. Once we asked for blankets, they provided the ones on the pictures, in which we didn’t even touch (very low quality blankets strapped by plastics). Cons, very very friendly staff. Whenever we had any complaints they listened politely, and tried to come up with a solution to make us happy (which I appreciate it). It’s located in a good part of the city, and you would have access to the major centres in Montreal. Our room was on the 27th floor, and we had a nice view of the city as well.
