Terrasse Belvu Hors-Piste — Restaurant in Montreal

I have never put a bad review before but I was so frustrated and mad at what happened to us yesterday that, for the first time, I’m going to communicate my experience. We got a reservation at 7h15, got there 7h30 after mentioning over the phone the fact that we were going to be late. The Manager was super rude to us when we got there, she started talking in a really bad voice tone, saying that we have to be all there so she can let us in ( we were 3 there out of 5), she would not let us in and made us wait outside for like 15min, our 4th friend got there and she still did not want to let us in. We mentioned the fact that we might be 6 instead of 5, we were talking super politely to her, she was like yes you can but arrange yourself inside you’ll not get an extra table. Finally after 30min of staying outside and being treated so poorly, they let us in and took us all the way straight to the end of the terrace, next to the exit door, where there was barely any music or service. It was my Birthday and I invited 6 of my girlfriends, and the way we were treated and spoken to was so unprofessional and disrespectful. We understand there are policies ( which we weren’t given before) but there is a way of treating customers and communicating policies. We wanted to go there have a good time, however yesterday’s experience let us think of not going to Belvu ever again. So sad to see the way customers are treated at a place that is supposed to be a High Standard Place, specially with the prices we are paying to be there. Extremely Disappointing First Visit

My first visit to Terrasse Belvu was an extremely disappointing experience from the moment we arrived. The hostess informed us that we only had 1.5 hours for our table, which immediately put a damper on our evening.

Things only got worse when it came to the service. Our drinks took an unbelievable 30-45mins to come out. To make matters worse, one of us ordered a virgin cocktail due to not being able to drink alcohol, and they ended up putting alcohol in the cocktail (we asked the waitress to confirm with the bartender and the bartenders were even unsure; she just told us yes and asked if we wanted another one but we were already pressed to leave in 1.5h and couldn’t wait another 30mins for a drink). This mistake was unacceptable and could have had serious consequences. When we pointed out the error, the waitress didn’t remove the cocktail from the bill because it had already been paid due to the time limit on the table.

Despite the long wait for drinks, they offered us a dessert after we had already waited 30mins each for our initial drinks (we ordered drinks on 2 separate occasions and each time it took ~30mins). The waitress was never to be found, making it difficult to address any of our concerns in a timely manner.

I had the pleasure of visiting for the re-opening summer terrace with some friends on its inaugural day. While the experience was generally enjoyable, there were a few minor hiccups along the way. These were likely due to the fact that some of the staff hadn’t been in the service industry since last summer, as many of them were busy with school commitments. Understanding that it takes time for everyone to get back into the swing of things, I decided to return last Saturday to see how things had improved.

I’m thrilled to report that the service was truly outstanding during my second visit! It was clear that the staff had found their rhythm and were operating with much more confidence and efficiency. It’s crucial to give employees the necessary time to adjust and reacquaint themselves with their roles, especially after a long break. One individual who particularly impressed me was Lea, the supervisor. She shone brightly amidst the team, demonstrating not only her professionalism and expertise but also a genuine dedication to ensuring every guest had a wonderful experience. Her attentiveness and warmth made a significant difference, and it was evident that she played a key role in the smooth operation of the terrace.
