The worst nail service I ever had in Montreal. I mean, maybe I ask a lot from a vegan place but... $47 (!) for a bad quality gel mani. No gel/shellac removal was needed. No massage, no hand scrub. Obviously no pedi. It took her one hour. I chose Brick color which is dark red. After second layer, I realized the red was too bright. The girl said that on the bottle it's written Brick. (Would she realized it after the mani would be done?) But she agreed that the color wasn't the one I asked. So saying she couldn't take off what's already done, applied 2 coats of other, darker polish that she found. Ok, happens. It was this Thursday, after 5pm. Dark outside, lighting inside was so so. Lamps are uncomfortable and there is only one electric plug: for UV or for the lamp. Saying that the light hurts her eyes, she did whole mani without proper lighting. I guess that explains uneven coat, air bubbles and polish under cuticle(my pinky on the picture). Then girls asked if they could take a picture. I was after work and tired, but ok, sure. Without knowing where to take a picture, girls took pictures of my nails at several places at the reception without realizing that the main reason for the bad quality pictures is bad manicure, phone with flash light on and applied oil(simple 1 minute google search would tell you that these are the no-no for an instagram nail pic...). I guess I ask too much from an unprofessional service for $47 gel mani only. And it's not like in Ritz-Carlton. Seriously?! Update, response to your response, dear V & O: I was upset and didn't say about it. It's my choice to stay positive and not ruin with argumenting my night. Everything I wrote was true: I asked for Brick color(see on the picture what I asked and how the second layer looked), I don't know how your quality products work, does it get darker or not. And I asked about the color after a second layer. V & O need to verify your bottles and colors to make sure you provide what the client asked for - not just by name. No massage was done, that's a fact. Check your cameras. I don't care if the technician needs a light or not, but it is a salon responsibility to make sure if she needs it, it is comfortable to use and you have enough plugs. Pretty logical. By accusing me of not saying the truth, which is very unprofessional from your side, you show that your salon is all perfect and don't need any change in it's behavior. Well, I hope future clients would carefully read my comments to know what to expect and how to be treated. If you use expensive quality products make sure the service is not a waste of it. It is salon's and manager's responsibility (the girls said the manager wasn't on the spot that night and so I haven't asked for her) to make sure you provide a quality service. I was truly frustrated by the quality and the quality of service. Now I am just convinced of the unprofessionalism by your comments. I hoped that the salon is ready to learn from mistakes and get better and it would be really great especially when it is situated near my work. But after all that, I have no intention to come back even for sugaring(which is apparently really great). I modified my comment on St-Henri, you were offended I see. As for the comments on taking a picture, if you are a smart business owner you would consider it as a free advice. V&O instagram pictures are just fine and it is a small effort to train your employees to make good pictures. But you clearly don't want to get better and blame how your clients 'not...
Read moreThis is the 3rd time I go to V & O over the years and unfortunately it is the 3rd time I have a bad experience. To focus on this time's events...I booked a mani/pedi for myself and a pedi for my elderly mother and when I called to make the reservation, I asked if we could be together during the pedis and also asked what the overall total would be for the services since I was comparing with other nail salons in st-henri. I was told we would in fact be together and that the grand total would be $185 which seemed pricey (or pricey-er than all competitors in st-henri). Fast forward to today when we arrive... we were told we couldn't be together unless we waited 10-15mins (not a big deal) they handed me scorching hot tea that cup that was filled to the rim and ended up falling all over my jacket since there was no place to put it and it was way to hot to drink we both were disappointed as we paid extra for callus removal (which is not only like 20$ extra but on top of that, they said she should use some electronic machine for an additional 10$) but there was no actual work done on the area and we both left as callus as when we arrived when we came to pay the bill, the total in fact was not the 185$ discussed over the phone but instead was a whopping 230$ (?!?!) for 1 pedi with no nail polish, 1 regular pedi + gel mani I told the receptionist that the total was not what was mentioned to which she apologized and we paid upon arriving in the car, we realized we had in fact over paid...I called and asked to have detailed information regarding the services we were charged for and the receptionist did confirm that we were charged too much and that it was a new system that she wasnt comfortable with...
In the 20 years of pedi/manis, I have never paid 250$ for such basic services and I also thought it to be utterly insane that in addition to all of that, I was still randomly overcharged with no reason why. Super...
Read moreI went to V&O nail salon today for the first time. I wanted to have pedicure with non-toxic gel polish. The salon is elegant, lovely and clean. There are no chemical smells like in other salons. I was warmly greeted by Roselyn (hope I spelled her name right) and the cute dog. My experience was truly amazing. I sat in a comfy chair, staff brought me warm tea, the dog was adorable, the music was nice too. The design and atmosphere in the salon is peaceful and pretty.
Roselyn really took time to do my pedicure. She was careful, thoughtful and did a great job. It is my day-1 so I don’t know how long the gel nail polish will stay but I felt good that I was not putting chemicals on my body. Roselyn was very considerate: she asked if I liked everything that was done for my nails, she also always remembered my name and we had great conversation. She is a lovely and warm person. I had such a bad week, and coming to V&O today really relaxed me. The nail colour was elegant and pedicure was done well. I took full pedicure (including scrub, massage). I recommend it. I also decided to do gel manicure last minute and the girls were able to accommodate my request. I appreciate it.
I am actually a healthcare professional and wellness writer. It is an honest review. I enjoyed this place and will come back because it is beautiful, cozy, clean, professional, welcoming place, they use non-toxic products, and the details of taking care of me and doing good job on pedi/mani is a rare gem.
I am leaving on vacations to the beach tomorrow and I will update you how long my pedi/mani lasted.
Thank you V&O for the great...
