Royal City Centre stands as a testament to enduring charm. While its architecture may evoke memories of the early '90s, this shopping destination has aged somewhat gracefully, like a beloved vintage vinyl record.
Did you know that New Westminster is Western Canada’s oldest city and the first capital city of British Columbia? Queen Victoria herself bestowed the name “Royal City,” and it’s a historical and cultural hub.
ANYWAY a stroll through the aisles of Royal City Centre, and you’ll feel the echoes of bygone eras—a delightful blend of nostalgia and modernity. I can hear Duran Duran faintly playing in the background of my head.
Over two decades of serving the community, Royal City Centre has become a familiar meeting point for friends, families, and neighbors. Whether you’re grabbing groceries or browsing boutique stores, there’s a sense of camaraderie here.
Yes, the decor might remind you of your favorite '90s sitcom or Fast Times at Ridgemont high, but that’s part of its allure. Imagine stepping into a time capsule where neon sign, lots of brass, and pastel tiles coexist harmoniously. The retro vibe is like slipping into your favorite pair of worn-in jeans—it just feels right.
Royal City Centre isn’t just a shopping center; it’s a living canvas where memories are made, and stories unfold. So, next time you visit, take a moment to appreciate the faded elegance and some...
Read moreWhen I dropped in here, the place was more tightly packed with anti-maskers, weirdos and vulnerable seniors than a 2020 Trump rally. NEEDS WAY MORE enforced safety measures or to be shut down!
The owners do not act accountable and clearly just want the cash grab and keep collecting the real estate rent cheques in their fancy far-away towers, and just kick that civic-pride-and-responsibility-can down the road. Do they even live in Canada? They should act like it. I'd bet they would never dare frequent this place themselves or it would already be fixed 1000%. THE TOP FLOOR IS MOSTLY MEDICAL OFFICES AND CLEARLY AN EXTRA HEALTH RISK IN THESE TIMES. YOU HAVE ONE JOB! MANAGE YOUR PROPERTY.
There are many things I could complain about here, but the socially crammed food court just to keep the old cranks happy, the corresponding WCs and the lack of Walmart touchless pay kiosks (despite a recent terminal upgrade, wts!) is the worst offenses.
Shout out to Everyday Items, the health food place, Kins and Dollarama for being the most awesome stores here! The other chain stores are at the bottom-end of these corporate franchise's standards and it's pathetic.
PLEASE UPGRADE VENTILATION, HEALTH AND SAFETY MEASURES OR YOU WILL GET SHUT DOWN. end...
Read moreThe main problem is the parking situation and how it's connected to Royal City Center. RCC is annoying in general for that. It's like, I want to go into Wal-Mart and Save-On Foods and other parts of the mall all in the same trip... Well if that's the case you'd better know the layout of the parking complex and plan carefully. It's super annoying how if you park in the main parking level you have to go down below to get to Save-On, except there is no easy access point to get down there so you have to go alllll around. And if you park underground by the Wal-Mart entrance, the Save-On access point is up a level. It's like sandwiched between the two. Anyway, so aside from that it closes pretty early. So if you're not familiar with the place the parking layout is confusing and annoying. They need to add some stairwells in more convenient spots that don't require you to go through the mall, because the stairwell I know of is only open during mall hours, which is completely unhelpful when you're trying to get to Wal-Mart or Save-On. Anyone who has been here knows what I'm talking about. Anyway, at least they have plenty of parking, more than they're ever likely to fill up, so I'll hand it...
