If there were 10 stars, I'd give them 100. I booked a half day on a Friday morning. Their website mentioned there's a minimum of 2 people so if they didn't meet the requirement it would be cancelled. 48 hours in advance they called to tell me unfortunately they'd have to cancel, however turned around and asked if instead I'd like to tag along with a camping trip going out around the same time. How incredible! I was able to join another small group lead by an absolutely awesome guide - Aaron (Eiren? Erin?). From the time getting there, Mona greeted me and was so incredibly friendly + helpful. Aaron lead us around the islands and was so knowledgable and passionate about his job - learning that all the staff I spoke to were born and raised in town, really gives the extra authentic vibe. Since I tagged along with the camping group, I got a little extra out of it, including lunch on one of the islands which was a lovely unexpected surprise :) Since I was a tag along to an overnight camping trip, they modified my excursion and picked me up on an island by boat to take me back (since we paddled out further than what a half day would be). Paul picked me up in the water taxi and before taking me back to town, he took the time to walk us into the island a little bit beware of ticks and told us about the history of the island. The customer service didn't end there either. When we got back to land, Scott took the time to give me some cycling route suggestions. I truly couldn't believe how laid back and patient everyone was and over the moon helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!! Can't wait to bring my...
Read moreRecently I booked a guided half-day tour. It was initially scheduled for the afternoon, sadly I was the only one who was booked on that. The staff wrote me a mail and a whatsapp message more than a day before the tour was scheduled with the option to reschedule to the morning tour, make a self-guided tour or cancel the reservation free-of-charge. Even if I would have loved to make the afternoon tour, this handling was already wonderful. The staff was very friendly, respectful and very sorry that they had to cancel the afternoon tour.
At the morning of the tour my group was setup in a very short time and we could start our instructions and safety training, right before we got onto the water. Very professional, helpful and nice handling of them :) Even though I was the first time kayaking ever I always felt safe and taken care of whenever needed without being intrusive or anything.
Once on the water, our tour guide (Ryan or Rain, sorry for the wrongspelling here :]) was very knowledgable about the Thousand Islands, about our tour and kayaking. We made interesting stops where he explained the history and stuff, as well as stops where he gave us tips about making our trip with the kayak more comfortable and efficient. With that, our tour was never boring. Luckily our group was chatty, like Ryan as well, so the entire trip was really fun!
I can only recommend 1000 Islands Kayaking Co when you want to make a tour around the islands, or when you need a kayak to do your own tour. The staff is really professional, helpful and always nice, with a bit of humor here and there. It was a wonderful experience, thank you...
Read moreWe had an amazing guided day tour with Cathy - 1000% recommend this experience to visit the Thousand Islands region!! We were a couple and since no other guests had signed up, were given a private tour and ended up doing 18 km of paddling! We had originally booked a double, but were asked whether we preferred single kayaks and went for the single ones - a great recommendation as it gave us a lot more agility. The kayaks that we received were super light and easily navigable; and we were also able to borrow dry bags and a camera case for no additional cost to keep all our stuff safe. The tour itself was fantastic - Cathy had lots of interesting stories to tell, knew all the best spots to look for wildlife, and took special care of pacing the tour to make sure that all felt comfortable. She also was extremely careful when crossing the path of boats, cruise ships and other water traffic - we felt very safe throughout. Being able to learn about the different islands, finding all the best spots for watching turtles, ospreys, and other animals, and having a local share all her favorite stories with us made the guided tour extremely worthwhile and we were glad we chose it over just renting kayaks ourselves. Thanks again, Cathy, also for all your extra tips for hiking...
