Read moreThe Ottawa sign is a cool little landmark for tourists wanting to take photos enjoying the odd background of stairs. While these particular stairs in the background are a nice scene on their own, they aren't really in view from the sign if you're taking a photo with it.
I feel like the sign should have been rotated 180° to instead have the downtown market scene in behind. Showcasing the byward market along with locals or tourists walking around, showing the historic feeling buildings.
The sign isn't bad, and looks cool. The people taking photos there almost always have a queue sort of setup whenever I have happened to walk by to take turns taking photos. I just feel like it could have been thoughtfully placed just a little bit better.
Nonetheless, if you're not from around here I still recommend that you check it out. The area is fun and has aged well, being in the heart of downtown it is close to parliament, museums, and is right beside the downtown shopping center.
