Anywhere I travel I like to support the local places. I was on a road trip to Bancroft with my friend and decided to drop in to pick up something for lunch on the road. We picked up a couple of Cheddar Scones, White Sourdough Bread, and a Chocolate Chip Cookie. My friend also bought a bag of Rapids End coffee beans.
We ate the scones on the drive up. They were great but my friend’s scone was underbaked, gooey in the center so she couldn’t finish hers. Mine was just a tad underbaked.
We stopped in a grocery store to buy some cheese and Italian cured meats and looked for a park to have our lunch. We had a wonderful and satisfying lunch. Hard Winter Bakery beats them all. The bread is so fantastic. The perfect crispy crust with fluffy soft interior with a light sourness, it is sourdough after all. We also bought a cheesecake slice and an orange and cardamom morning bun and both were wonderful as part of our breakfast. We have a raisin and cinnamon loaf for tomorrow. Hopefully they'll have a store every 200 km to Vancouver and then one near our house in the UK. Just finished the raisin and cinnamon and it is the best we've had so far in...
