Sephora is probably one of my favorite stores, I’ve shopped here for as long as I can remember and I’ve always had amazing experiences. However, today I walk into Sephora to return a gifted item to me and exchange it for something else. Naturally, I’m looking around the store wondering what I should choose to exchange it with. Moreover, I look at a few other things that I’ve been wanting to purchase and are unavailable in store I thought that’s okay I’ll just have someone order it for me at the cash register because I also had a 150$ gift card that I wanted to spend.
Throughout the entirety of my shopping experience I was being followed and watched by a male employee. Not only was he following me and watching me but even inserted himself into my own personal space literally almost touching me when I was at the caudalie section. I was laughing in disbelief because I was so shocked by what was actually happening. I kept walking around looking at products and everywhere I turned he was there I just could not believe how I was being singled out and targeted like that. A female employee came up to me and asked me if I needed any help and obviously I’m really annoyed at this point so I say no thank you and she rolls her eyes and walks away.
Again, I’m in complete shock that this is actually happening right now. I walk to the cash register and yes, he follows me there, pretends to be talking on his phone and is watching me. I get to the register, I do my exchange, I order the extra items (regretfully) on my gift card because I don’t feel like they deserve my money at this point.
The girl who served me at the register seemed unenthusiastic and just annoyed by my overall presence. I tell one of the girls that are working and I say “is this guy really following me because that’s very uncomfortable” and she said “oh I’ll just tell my manager”.
I walk out heading towards the Nespresso store because over the Christmas break I was gifted a machine and I wanted to buy some coffee for it and I did. My overall experience there was amazing. I felt super welcome and valued as a customer at Nespresso which is NOT how I felt at Sephora. When I walked out of Nespresso feeling amazing it hit me, I should’ve felt that exam same way leaving Sephora but I did not. So I went back over and spoke to the manager.
She explained to me that she was sorry, that the male theft prevention worker was new so she confirmed he was an employee. And she expressed that because he’s new they need to work on his ability to do his job properly as a theft prevention worker. I quickly agreed however she did not make me feel heard.
I should not walk into one of my favorite stores, and feel harassed, watched, or targeted, I felt like I just wanted to get out of there because I could not shop without feeling absolutely horrible.
This needs to change.
I understand that Sephora has recently been dealing with a lot of theft going on but I’m a paying customer and I should feel valued. Please have your theft workers do their jobs in a way where people don’t feel uncomfortable. Perhaps ask him to respect one’s personal space and not make customers feel as though we are criminals out on parole.
I will be back because I am a loyal Sephora customer so remember who I am, remember my face because I refuse to experience this again.
I also wrote a formal letter to corporate and am awaiting their...
Read moreI try to avoid the Pointe-Claire Fairview Sephora at all times, especially when Laval and downtown Sephoras have confirmed my view that the staff at the west island are rude and unknowledgeable! Once again, after a year I had no choice to go back to that once since it is five minutes from my place. I wanted to restock on my Bare Minerals Concealer and my foundation compact, get the new Peter Thomas Roth tinted Firm as I love the original and get a new blush. I get there the security greets me no staff! They are all chatting. And I can see so many have not been there long in the past year. I approach a sales Rep fake with lip fillers to the max and cheeks and I ask where is the Bare Minerals line as I don't see it please. She had no clue what I was asking for, she asked someone else. She confirmed they no longer carry it and asks what I needed. I tell her my 2 products so the Blond filler up sales Rep says I'll show you a great one! Brings me to Dior without asking me what I want and need in a concealer. I tell her I don't want Dior, Armani nor Guerlain. She brings me to Armani. I tell her what about Huda or Tarte, she looked at me as if she had no clue about those lines someone who probably worked at the Bay and only knows the big brands. I tell her I use and showed her my own Becca orange corrector so I need a concealer not too Matt don't want my new little lines to show and want a medium to full coverage. She brings me to Huda I did not like the texture (sorry Huda still love your rest of makeups), we go to Tarte texture seems récent, i ask can we find a colour keeping in mind of my corrector. She shows a super light one, I am a Caramel skin tone. I tell her too light. Finally after the third one on my hand I tell her I will try that color please along with my corrector. She gives me the tester and rudely says to me you can go try over there at the counter!!!! I was shocked and annoyed, I take the item and start doing my own testing only to see another sales Rep helping another customer on testing a foundation on her and client debating on the two! I was irritated, not once the sales Rep Filler blond came to see me or ask any feed back, I removed everything and told my friend I'll go to Laval. Went to the Peter Thomas Roth line however I was too upset and disturbed on how poor the customer service was, so I left and spent $205.72 AT Mac instead at Pointe-Claire Fairview mall. I told them my wants and needs, asked me the right questions applied it on me and was on point. As for Makeup I will stick with MAC after 15 years not shopping there! As for my Peter Thomas Roth, Farmacy and Ren products, I will order online so I don't deal with poor customer service again, unless I am downtown or laval then I will...
Read moreMy mom asked for a specific Dior eyeliner earlier today which the employee gave her. The box opening was kind of ripped and it felt light so she asked if it was opened or something the employee kept on denying stating that it’s impossible and that it’s in a good state. My mom asked if she can get another box but was told that it’s the last one. Trusting the employee my mom went to the cash to pay but she wanted to make sure one last time that it’s not actually empty, the cashier started laughing stating there’s no way it’s empty, so my mom asked her to open it which the cashier did, turns out it was empty and there was only the eyeliner sharpener in the box. My mom just left the store after that. I want to talk about three points. First of all, let’s say my mom fully trusted the employees and bought the box and got home to find it empty, then wanted to go back and return it, how would they believe that she didn’t just take it out the box? It would create just a useless situation. Second of all, I don’t wanna be a Karen I’m just mentioning this for the poor customers that can potentially deal with these types situations, Sephora has been really disorganized and untrustworthy lately. Third of all, they be acting as if they’re so professional making employees put headpieces and hiring security and making everything seem so under control 😂 but i realized it’s just all a show cause people are still stealing , like there’s literally empty boxes that are on sale, empty boxes on sale like what type of disorganized business is that. Anyway the whole point of this review is that hopefully this doesn’t happen to more people and hopefully employees that are just wandering around the store are actually assuring no one is stealing or actually removing empty or disfunctional items. I figured it’s just better to buy from a pharmacy or la baie or online or something since things are stored more in an organized and...
