I think this is lively in winter only. yeah, in summer, there could be street artists or local performances but whatever photos I see on the net, it's all from the winter season. in winter- The ice rink at Place D'Youville is the perfect place to experience Québec City's winter. From mid-November to mid-March, put on skates and enjoy its magical atmosphere.

Situated at one of the busiest intersections in the city, D’Youville Square (Place D’Youville) holds historical significance as a former bustling marketplace that now serves as a lively crossroads, marking the boundary between Old Quebec and Quebec Parliament Hill.

Place D’Youville is a public square in the core of Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. It is situated on rue Saint-Jean, one of the oldest roads in Quebec City. The square is named in honor of Marie-Marguerite d'Youville, a French-Canadian widow who founded the religious order known as the Grey Nuns of Montreal.

It has been a focal point and gathering place for a very long time. It began as the Montcalm...

Place d’Youville in Quebec City offers a charming outdoor ice skating rink in the heart of downtown, perfect for skating enthusiasts or casual visitors. Open during the winter months, the rink features a refrigeration system that keeps the ice in great condition even if there’s no snow. Skating is free, and you can rent skates on-site for around $8. Lockers are also available for your belongings if you bring your own padlock.

The rink operates daily, with extended hours during holiday periods like Christmas and New Year. Regular hours typically run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends and from noon to 10 p.m....

It is a very common meeting point, and the final stop for several buses which take you to The Old City (Le Vieux). In Winter, there is a small xute Skating Rink with music and in Summer you'll find next to it several Artisanal stands with anything from rings and necklaces to removable tattoos. Be careful when you cross the streets there: a lot of traffic for a very small area and the drivers get impatient. The lights take forever to change but if you cross while it is red, you might get a fine! (A friend of mine had...

It is always crowded. As the entrance of a tourism heart of Quebec city, personally I don't think they should place the bus terminal here. Maybe just 1/2 bus pass this place will be great. They could have use this place in a better way. It has many events and attractions during summer, including the summer music festival or film festival. In winter it turned into an ice skating arena. It is also a popular spot for photography.
