We arrived at the property at approximately 3:34 PM after a long drive from Calgary, accompanied by my senior parents. We understand that the standard check-in time is 4:00 PM, and we respectfully waited in the lobby until then. However, when I approached the front desk at 4:00 PM, the staff member, Fahad, still delayed the process by a few more minutes before even asking for my ID and credit card.
The check-in experience was frustrating and uncomfortable. Fahad did not inform me in advance that the $150 incidental hold would be entered manually. I explained to him, my credit card requires a PIN for any transaction to go through. Since they did not have a physical terminal, the transaction was declined. Instead of handling the matter discreetly, he asked in front of another guest, “Do you have enough on your card?”—a question that felt invasive and embarrassing. I reiterated that I had sufficient funds but needed to enter my PIN. His response: “So what are we gonna do?”—then proceeded to ask if I had cash on hand. I explained that while I had money in the bank, I wasn’t carrying cash - who does nowadays?. In the end, I had to ask my husband to use his credit card, which worked.
We were then assigned a room near the far end of the building where trains frequently pass by. After an exhausting trip, this was far from ideal. I sincerely hope this wasn’t done intentionally.
When we got to our room, we noticed there was no bottled water. After settling in, we returned to the front desk and asked Fahad if complimentary drinking water was available. He dismissively said we could grab water from Tim Hortons. There was no effort to assist or offer an alternative.
While the room itself was clean and appeared freshly renovated, the experience was completely overshadowed by Fahad’s unaccommodating and discourteous behavior. He is, by far, the most unpleasant front desk staff we’ve ever...
Read moreI will never stay at a Basecamp business again. Last year the staff over booked me by one night. I checked out as planned and informed them of my check out and they informed me it was the next day. Long story short, they charged me the extra day and blamed it on me because they "send a confirmation" email that I should have verified. This year I booked 16 nights to make sure I had somewhere to stay. I was told I could change it with 72hrs notice. When I checked in, I gave them 9 days notice that I'd be leaving early to go to Sicamous the 2nd week. They refused to change the booking and charged me the full booking even though I wasn't there for 8 nights and told me then that the booking had to be changed 72hrs prior to check in and that I booked a Black Friday deal, that nobody informed me of, and that was nonrefundable, so again, it's my fault. I informed them on the date of our early checkout that we were leaving and they refused to check me out and kept my money. Its a terribly run business with an entitlement to my money. They hide behind "their policies" and would rather take my money for nothing as opposed to working with a repeat customer....
Read moreI've never written a 1-star review, but this hotel was way too scary to stay at ever again. I booked a room on June 14th, driving from BC to Alberta. There were adults and children (probably 8 or 9 of them) yelling and shrieking and running up and down the hallways and in and out of rooms for a couple hours, banging on my door and walls. 3 adults standing outside the door of my room to scare me when I came out. When I went to the office and told the front desk that I would need to leave, the girl at the desk, instead of offering a solution, said , 'OK', and agreed to a refund. Called another day and talked to someone else, was also promised a refund...no refund yet - a month later. I wanted to stay in Revelstoke to avoid driving through the night to get to Edmonton, but that is what I ended up doing, arriving very tired at 5am. Find somewhere...
