Deliciously unique tastes and staff that care. Small delivery mis-hap but the food more than made up for it.
We ordered via UberEats for lunch right at opening time. Food was ready quickly but 2 of the items were missed but when I called in the staff were very apologetic and helpful and we picked up the remaining items to make it in time for lunch.
We ordered the Yunan Cold Noodles, Dali Fried Pork Belly, Fried Bacon and Salted Turnips (subbed with fresh pork as they ran out of the bacon) and a Bok Choy and Shiitake. The food was fantastic and very different from the Chinese food available at your typical Chinese Seafood restaurants.
The Bok Choy and Shiitake is the one dish that can be commonly found elsewhere. It was expertly cooked the bok choy had a good delicate crunch while the shiitake was tender.
The Yunan Cold Noodles come with some julienned , carrots, cucumber and wood ear, cilantro, crushed peanuts and ground pork paired with chili oil and a sort of vinaigrette savoury. The cilantro and vinegar perfectly balances the acidity of this cold dish while helping enhance my appetite.
The Dali Fried Pork Belly while marked non-spicy on UberEats, does have some bits of Szchechuan pepper though was pretty mild to my tastes. The crispiness of the pork of the pork meshes well with the aromatics and the hit of pepper here an there provides a bit of pizazz.
The Fried Bacon and Salted Turnips, for me, is the perfect balance of spiciness. The dish is a stir-fried mix of meat, salted turnips and some green hot peppers. It leaves a nice spice in the mouth without overwhelming the taste buds. I also hope to try this dish when they have the bacon in stock, I can only imagine how much better it would be with fattier cuts of pork.
Lastly the staff provided some extra treats due to the missed items during the delivery, we got to try a sort of deep fried yam and taro roll dessert, which were a delight and pairs perfectly with an afternoon tea.
I'm looking forward to visiting this gem in person once the restrictions are lifted to try their other offerings straight from...
Read moreHave driven by this restaurant many times but had cravings for DanDan Noodles and decided today is the day to try this restaurants. Looked through the reviews on Google and the food looks good.
It was just the two of us. We ordered DanDan Noodle, Sliced Fish Filet in Hot Chili Oil and Szechwan Style Eggplant.
The Fish was glorious, huge chunks of fish that was firm and moist, the fish wasn't spicy and it tasted good (you know when spicy food is good it's a taste and not only a fire on your tongue?), the eggplant was savoury and a bit sour and the DanDan Noodle was decent enough.
Plate size are quite large (the noodle was a single serving in a medium size bowl), I wish I had gone to dinner with more people than the two of us so that we can order more. Needless to say we had a lot of leftover when the dish sizes are for 4-6 people. They seem to be pretty busy doing take outs too and my leftover had stay pretty intact through the night and was good after being microwaved.
Service was pretty good, the menu is full of pictures and had both chinese and english on it. There were other customers that were clearly non-chinese speakers and they managed to communicate/order food well enough.
This is not a place for 'cheap eats' but it's solid and the place is clean with enough servers buzzing around. I'd recommend this place and will...

The salted egg yolk fried mushrooms (23.98) were amazing. The batter was light and crispy with a strong salted egg yolk flavour. Mushrooms were juicy.

The Pu Er Prawns (25.98) were also lightly battered and fried and came on a bed of delectable fried garlic!
The Mouthwatering Chicken (19.98) was definitely that! It was very tender and.thr sauce was the perfect blend of vinegar sourness and saltiness .
To wash it all down, I had one of their coconut drinks (~6.00). It was coconut milk mixed with coconut jelly, coconut pulp, and some croutons.
