I rarely write reviews unless it's really disastrous or really amazing. This one falls under the former category. I would not give any star if the reviewing system allowed. I consigned 3 purses with Lafayette in November 2021 for a period of 90 days. Three days prior to the agreement expiry date (mid February 2022) I sent them a text message checking the status of the consignment - whether they are sold or not; and that if not i would like to set up an appointment to pick up the purses. No response from the store. Over the following 2 weeks, I have called the shop, no one ever picked up the phone. Left 2 voice messages, and sent them an email. Again, no response from the store. Last week, I decided to just pop in the store just to see what's going on. Store wasn't opened. I could see through the glass that the store was not well-organized - paper bags & boxes left everywhere. I was concerned as this is not a high-end consignment store should look like. I went to the onsite Property Manager to see if they are still in business, and explained my situation. The Property Manager told me to send her an email about my story, and then she could forward it to the store and see if they will respond. She also told me that if I didn't hear from them after that email, I can call the police if I want to. Surprisingly, I got a call from a gentleman of the store that night and apologized for not responding earlier, and booked an appointment for me to come in and get my purses back the next day. When I went in the following day, the girl blamed everything on COVID - saying the store is not opened everyday during the pandemic. I get it. But without the store being opened physically, staff should still be able to respond to text messages, voice messages, and emails. And then, she explained that they communicate with customers with Instagram & WeChat only, and that's the reason my text messages are not addressed. Really?? The very first time I inquired about consigning with them, Lulu (one of the staff) told me on the phone to send pictures of the purses through text messages. After exchanging my grievances and her excuses, the girl finally told me that 2 of my purses were sold the week before, and would give me cash for that. I said I preferred e-transfer as I didn't want to touch the cash. She said that e-transfer would take a long time because they have not received the money from the customers who bought them. That sounds weird!!! Purses were sold, but the store did not receive the money!? I found that very fishy, and took the cash reluctantly as I didn't want to deal with that nonsense situation. He looked for 30 minutes without finding it. The store looked worse than a garage sale. Bags were packed into Rubbermaid Bins squished on-top of each other. Multiple bags (not in dust bags) crammed into boxes and ripped bags. Nothing was organized or taken care of. I was horrified that a business would keep luxury bags stored in that way. I was told they would ship my bag after 30 mins of searching for it however by the way all of the handbags were stored I knew the condition of the bag would absolutely not be the same as the photo. They were very helpful and provided many detailed photos to show me the new Hermes Victoria II bag I was interested in. Confirmed it was brand new and was also willing to provide certificate of authenticity as I am a new client. They provided excellent service “after hours” through DM and ultimately I purchased the bag. Received it today. Delivery was quick considering I purchased it on a Friday evening and it arrived Wednesday morning. Was packaged very well to ensure no damage was done during shipping.
