I was introduced to Master Yoga's online sessions by my sister, shortly after the lockdown went into effect in April.
My sister has been a dedicated student of Master Yoga for couple of years and she always spoke so highly of Master Jeya's teachings and maintained a high level of respect for him and his fellow instructors.
I was skeptical at first about learning yoga through live streaming sessions, but I kept an open mind and attended few morning sessions. I have been practicing 5 days a week and I cannot describe in words the positive impacts these sessions are continuing to have in my life. I would like to highlight some of my favourite parts of these sessions.
Master Jeya introduced several techniques to help us calm our minds and ease into the meditation practice. With his teachings and continued practice, I am now able to experience absolute stillness of my body and mind for longer durations and not have thousands of thoughts racing through my mind. I am no longer fighting to keep the thoughts away. When my mind occasionally wanders, I am calmly able to bring it back and focus on my breathing (and the colours that I see).
I would not have been able to even experience the type of meditation I do if it were not for his teachings and guidance.
With two little children under the age of five that do not allow me to think clearly, I look forward to taking advantage of that window of meditation session and enjoy the peace and blissfulness that it offers me.
Master Jeya's years of experience combined with his education in this discipline enables him to deliver quality yoga practices. He teaches Kriya yoga (on dedicated days), Hatha yoga combined with several breathing exercises.
His emphasis and focus on cleansing breaths and how to practice those different types of breathing alone can not be understated. He often dedicates more time for us to practice the different types of breathing so that we could benefit from those breathing techniques.
He thrives to educate us on several aspects that go hand in hand with the poses: benefits of each pose and the counter-pose, the chakras involved, understanding and respecting our physical limitations when we practice new and/or challenging poses, how to move with your breath to achieve maximum benefits and deeper stretches, and most importantly enjoy each practice.
Just because it is an online session, it does not mean that you can be sloppy with your poses. Master Jeya had mastered the technique of watching 40+ students on his screen and correct and/or compliment our poses. He also knows which student struggles with which pose and provides constructive feedback.
At the end of every session he makes time to answer (in detail) any questions that we may have in relation of the poses (the why and the how), history or the background of anything related to yoga.
I have participated in few of the evening sessions with Master Ravi. He is also a very knowledgeable and experienced teacher. Master Jeya often tailors his teachings towards advanced yoga practice, whereas Master Ravi accommodates beginner or novice students by going at a slower pace. Their teaching methods compliment one another and provide a well integrated holistic yoga practice.
I am very thankful for the initiative of Master Yoga for providing live streaming of yoga sessions during these unprecedented times and guiding their students toward a...
Read moreSeptember 28, 2021 I am a full-time working mother as a System Analyst in New York. During 2020/2021 Covid pandemic all of us were stuck in our house for an indefinite time. Working from home, cooking and cleaning - these are our daily routines for those days. So, I thought to do something interesting and I chose to learn about yoga. I did the research on the internet and found about Master Yoga and the Teacher Training course. I called the Yoga Master, Jeya Siva, and asked, “Is it possible to learn yoga via zoom class” he immediately told me to join the class in a positive way and encouraged me do so. At that time, Training course was already started, and they finished 6 weeks lessons. I was little nervures and asked the master “Is it possible for me to continue this course knowing that I missed 6 lessons?” Jeya Master invigorated me and told me to try my best. So, I joined the Teacher Training Yoga 20/21 course. Jeya Master does not just teach, he prepares us for the road ahead. He gives up his personal and family time to teach us extra knowledge outside the Course curriculum. He really likes to see his students succeeds, therefore, he supported and uplifted us to overcome our struggles or roadblocks. Jeya Master is a very thoughtful teacher who puts a lot of time and effort to teach us. Before this course I knew little about yoga but now I have learned so much about Yoga. Thank you so much Jeya Master, for making my experience in learning Teacher Training in Yoga wonderful!! Jeya Master, you are a wonderful and great Teacher.
April 06, 2021 I had moderate to severe pain on my both knees and my right lower back for about a year. Therefore, I was looking for a friendly and professional yoga instructor and I found Master Yoga. They started a Yoga knee and back/hip clinics in January 2021 for 12 weeks each via zoom. I was so excited and joined in both clinics. These online clinics worked very well for me because I could not be able to attend in person classes. After the 12 weeks of those clinics, I felt much better on my both knees and my back. The style of teaching is what I was looking for. He taught a great mixture of everything asanas, breathing and relaxation, medicine and marma points massaging. He always brings positive energy to the class and very punctual to the class. You have to have good discipline to practice every day, but sometimes I slip few days of practices because of my other workloads. Even with 4-5 days of a week practices I felt tremendous improvements on my overall body. I felt so much of energy on my mind and body. I will highly recommend Master Yoga to anyone who wants an amazing yoga experience and complete knowledge about yoga. Thank you very much to...
Read moreI was fortunate enough to attend one weekend class, of my Diploma in Yoga class, from Annamalai University, at Master Yoga Centre for the very first time, during the Winter Time, as arranged by our Gurugi, Jeyarajeen Rajalingam…When I entered the Centre I felt that I was entering into a real temple, as it has that kind of environment… very neat with appropriate arrangements with pictures and statues, mainly Kriya Babaji’s picture in the center and the set-up of other pictures and statues of the deities on the sides, including Shridi Baba’s statue and a beautiful Ganesha Statue that was found at the Entrance. It is a practice that Master starts the class only after finishing the poojas to Babaji and the Deities around.. and after the class also finishes the day's pooja with an Arathi performed by himself first & following him others also do the Arathi as the same way… I was really happy and fortunate enough to be a part of the class conducted by our ‘Master’ and the Guruji, Jeyarajeen on that day and very much touched to be a part of the poojas and Arathi performances as well… Also I was very much contended by that Karma alone… Further closer to the exam he was kind enough to offer us a month long free classes, for an hour, in order to support and to help us to be ready for the exam, attending 2 classes per week basis at the Master Yoga. I attended morning classes at 9.30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays… and Master himself conducted the classes and taught lots of new techniques on Asanas and showed various stretches as well… During this time I was fortunate enough to participate in Special Manthra Chanting and the Moon Salutation process, that is the ritual being offered on Tuesdays to Kriya Babaji. Thus I felt very much contended, blissful and was in great peace, throughout my stay in the Master Yoga Center. The entire Yogi’s at the Center & the temple was so friendly and supportive, thus made us to be more comfortable enough to be a part of their group. Also fortunate enough to participate at Guruji’s Birthday event that took place recently, and felt that I also was a part of the entire Master Yoga Center Families… I enjoyed the one month long classes very much and learned lots of new techniques under master’s teaching and guidance… I am planning to continue with my learning process at the center at some point in the near future, under our Guruji’s guidance and directions… Anyone wants to transform your life to be a blissful and happy one, then don’t hesitate to join the yoga class at the Master Yoga… and to be a part of it… Viji.Subramaniam, A Retiree from the Banking Services and an Active Volunteer...
