Shortlisted this 18th century museum from Google and being my interest, planned an visit that was worth it. Located on Dundas Street West, is easily approachable both by ride and bus too. Google pinpointed this place. First impression of this 18th century building presents iconic standout attraction that has withstood decades and now proudly conserved as an ancient heritage value site museum. Locals are proud of this monument and doing their every bit for for both conservation and updation with both local and government assistance. Simplicity outside is well supplemented by the uniqueness of each room, furniture, articles and liveliness still felt that prevailed in those times. The guided tours takes you literally to those bygone era. For our paucity of time, this tour couldn’t be availed but still the museum staff is too courteous, helpful and willingly shared basic information. Leaving you in able hands of tour guide personnel who genuinely details and proudly takes you around both the floors. Presently sharing photos that definitely ignite your imagination and desire to surely visit this 18th century Inn when at Ontario. And spare some time more for the farmers market held each Wednesday from 2 to 6 pm in their premises and a leisure stroll in adjacent Montgomery Meadows. Enjoy.

Went there to join their Family Day activity. Greeted with the friendly staff and volunteers, offered hearty hot chocolate and warm coffees when we walked in. My 8 and 10-year-old then joined the traditional candy (forgot the name of the candy) making workshop, which they enjoyed a lot. Then, we explored our way up to the second floor, where I joined an mini Irish river dance lesson and my wife and the kids tried out the 19th century games. After that, me and my wife went back down to the lobby to hang around a bit while the kids were finishing up their scavenger hunts worksheet. We finished off with some more traditional handicrafts down in the basement lounge.

A FREE charming glimpse into Toronto’s past! Montgomery’s Inn is beautifully preserved, everything from the rooms to the furnishings feels like stepping back in time. The weekly farmers' market on Wednesdays is a highlight, and on those days, the staff also demonstrate how the historic kitchen used to operate, even cooking up something small to showcase it. The team is knowledgeable and friendly, making the whole experience both fun and educational. A hidden gem in Etobicoke (and in Toronto, generally speaking) highly recommend for history buffs and families alike!

Historic Tavern Meal

Saturday, February 8, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The Inn’s Winterlicious event is a typical 19th-century tavern meal in an 1840’s Toronto tavern. Served family-style at communal tables, guests will begin with Thomas Montgomery’s peppermint shrub cocktail, then enjoy artisan cheese and fresh baked bread, a variety of pickled and preserved vegetables, hardy meat and potatoes and a selection of historic desserts, all prepared according to authentic early Victorian recipes. Richard Fiennes-Clinton, author of Muddy York, will speak about the history of Inns in early...
