Insadong is currently our go to spot for Korean food in Etobicoke. They are consistent, courteous, and have really good Korean food that is easy on the wallet and great for the belly.
My partner and I have tried the following dishes:
Tteokbokki (Spicy Rice Cakes) - with fishcake and sliced vegetables. This dish is good but can get spicy. It's the type of heat that builds with every bite.
Jae Yuk (Spicy Pork) - which is sliced pork with carrots red peppers and onions cooked in a sweet spicy sauce. It's actually not that spicy for my taste. We get this almost every time I come with a group. There are two serving sizes, the family size (larger portion) does not come with a side of rice but the regular size does.
Purple Rice - GET IT AND THANK ME LATER
Donkatsu (Breaded Pork Cutlet) - a generous potion for one and great for sharing. It's like having a thick boneless pork chop sliced in half, breaded, fried, and the cook finish it with a generous amount of katsu sauce. I swap out the white rice for the purple rice.
Dolsot Bibimbap (Rice pot)- it was the first time I tried this and therefore have nothing to compare it to. It was a nice medley of sliced beef with beans sprouts, pickled radish and a fried egg.
Tang Soo Yook (fried chicken) - bite sized pieces of deep fried chicken with onions and peppers tossed in a sweet and spicy sauce. Great for sharing as it is a...
Read moreI love this Mom & Pop type Korean restaurant in Islington Village! Sam & Soo are wonderful owners, their service is amazing & their food is so delicious. I've dined-in and had take-out experiences especially to satisfy those work lunch cravings. Their food is consistent and portion sizes are generous. They also do party trays for those last-minute potluck options!
I've had their dumplings, tempura, bulgogi, cold noodles, etc. - everything is so good. My favourite is definitely their soon tofu and cold noodles. It just hits the spot for craving authentic Korean dishes! The portion sizes are such a bonus, especially for the Tonkatsu dish.
They have quite the space inside the restaurant to easily fit a party of 8. Interior is plain, but the customer service Soo & her employees provide is what makes the place shine. They will chat with you to get to know her customers. I appreciate this extra passionate touch!
Tip: Free parking is in the back (don't get confused with the Dollarama entrance next to it cause it's not exactly "connected"). For potluck options, their japchae comes in $50 (small) or...
Read moreMy wife and I had a craving for some Korean food close to us and we used google to find this place. We arrived to a packed restaurant on a Sunday around 7:30pm. We ordered three dishes and all were delicious. To delicious to take pictures of it. We ordered the Tteokbokki, Kimchi Jjigae and jaeyuk. The portions were big enough for the two of us to take one more serving home. The cost was less than $35. The service was quick, the food was tasty and brought out quickly. We noticed that the restaurant started to quite down around 8:30pm. So that may be a better time to go on a Sunday. If I wanted a Korean restaurant with a variety of menu options and big portions, I would definitely come back here again. I think the value is pretty good. Otherwise, because we live closer to New Toronto, if I wanted bulgogi or pork bone soup, I would go to Tasty Korea on...
