Zion Building Supplies has been our go-to spot for the past 3-4 years for home improvement needs, and with the recent change in location, the experience has become even better. As someone who has frequented both their old and new stores, I can confidently say that the upgrade is noticeable and well worth the move. The new space, now just across the street from their previous location, offers a significant improvement in almost every way.
The first thing you'll notice is the sheer size of the new store. It's considerably larger, and the spacious layout makes a world of difference. Unlike the older location, which felt a bit cramped with narrow aisles and dim lighting, the new store is well-lit with a modern design that makes browsing so much easier. The bright, open space not only helps with visibility but also allows for better air circulation, making for a more comfortable shopping experience, especially if you're planning on spending some time looking through their wide range of materials.
One of the biggest improvements, in my opinion, is how organized everything is now. In the old store, it sometimes felt like a treasure hunt, with items not always where you'd expect them to be. At the new Zion Building Supplies, everything is logically placed, and the improved signage means you're not wandering around trying to find what you need. It's clear they've put thought into how customers move through the space, and it shows in the overall flow and ease of shopping.
Another standout aspect is the staff. I always found the team helpful in the past, but there's definitely been an upgrade here as well. The staff at the new location seem friendlier and more eager to assist with questions or product recommendations. Whether you're a DIY enthusiast or a contractor, their knowledge and willingness to help make the experience even more pleasant. On my last visit, I had a few questions about insulation types, and they took the time to explain the pros and cons of each product, which really helped me make an informed decision.
What really sets Zion apart from other big-name stores, like Home Depot, is the personal touch. While my family jokingly referred to the old location as the "Chinese Home Depot" due to its darker, cave-like atmosphere, the new Zion Building Supplies has truly outshone its larger competitor. The focus on customer service, the improved layout, and the competitive prices all combine to make it a much better shopping experience. You get the same range of products you would expect from a large chain, but with a more personal, tailored approach.
Speaking of prices, Zion continues to impress in this department. Their pricing remains competitive, and I've often found that they offer better deals on certain materials compared to the bigger stores. Whether it's lumber, tools, or specialty items, you’re likely to save some money here without sacrificing quality.
In conclusion, the new Zion Building Supplies location has taken everything that worked in their previous store and improved on it significantly. The larger space, better organization, and more inviting atmosphere make it a great option for anyone looking for building supplies in the area. Whether you're a professional contractor or just a homeowner tackling a weekend project, Zion has what you need at a great price, with helpful staff to guide you along the way. I’m happy to continue supporting them and look forward to many more visits in the future!

Read moreI just wanted to share my recent experiences with Zion. I recently came to know about this place as my wife and I began renovating our new home 2 months ago. It’s always busy and prices are great but more than that it’s the customer service that I wanted to bring attention to. While everyone, it seems, who works here is of Asian decent, regardless of whether they can speak English fluently or not, each staff member I encountered was more than happy to help us...every time...even if they were busy with something/someone else. And on a few occasions, even though their return policy is 15 days, we were able to return/exchange items a few days later. Overall Great Business with great prices, great staff and great selection
UPDATE: JAN 9 2021 in the middle of a COVID lockdown when larger stores are closed for in-store shopping, I came to Zion again to get a items. I was directed to a parking spot and was told by Stacy to stay in my car. She also took my number and then called me a min later to ‘take my order’ and the entire purchase experience was seamless and without headaches. She also called to clarify items and come out and show me items before I paid and then had their staff bring it to my car! And she was one of many...and this was around 7:55 AM.
I wish the big box stores like Home Depot and Lowe’s would learn from this (last week I needed some items that Zion didn’t carry, so I had to buy everything online at Home Depot, then once I got the email, I had to drive to the Home Depot, sit in my car for nearly an hour before being told to head to the lumber doors and wait in queue for another 20 min to finally pick up my order) Total time spent At Zion - 20 min from purchase to pickup. Thank you and keep it up Zion
Full disclosure: knowing how busy they are I came Saturday morning at 7:30. I thought they opened at 8 but they proceeded to serve...
Read moreI went to pick up a range hood and I bought the under cabinet - LUFT Stainless steel version w/ 720CFM capacity (Model LU3030). I specifically asked for no open or used box. The lady at the counter said it is brand new. The box was taped and sealed as if it is new so I was happy and left home after purchasing it. However, what I ended up getting was a poorly refurbished unit from the supplier. I took it home and only after a week, I hired a contractor to install. I made a mistake of not opening it until then. As he opened the box, he pointed out several spots on the unit that still had greasy residue, rust on screw holes, blue plastic wrap pieces in random places, and showed me the different colours in screws for the same side. The photos I attached are taken immediately after removing the unit out of the box. No unpacking has been done that involved the blue wrapping paper. He indicated this was a returned item that was refurbished. I am not happy at all because I was not in a position to take it back for many reasons, one the contractor was already there and I couldn’t tell him to leave home and not to install it. as I would have to pay him for his visit. Secondly, the store cleverly indicated no return on these units but only exchange (I wonder why...). Even if I did take it back to return, the store could say this was used by me and that it wasn’t the unit they supplied. My advice for other buyers is quite simple. Open the unit in the store in front of the employees and if it looks used, or refurbished, give them sh** and ask for full refund even if they tell you no returns. At least if one of you can avoid getting ripped off, I will be satisfied.
You can find the photos I attached...
