A Genuine Omakase Gem
Upon entering Shizuku, the first thing I noticed was its sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere. Every corner exudes attention to detail, and the staff is courteous, making sure you're well-accommodated.
The Omakase here is an authentic showcase of the culinary artistry that this cuisine demands. With each course, I could taste the freshness of the ingredients, and the expertise with which each dish was prepared was evident. Everything is seasoned to perfection, balancing the delicate flavors in a way that's both pleasing to the palate and memorable.
What enhanced the dining experience further was the exceptional sake pairing. Each pour was thoughtfully chosen to complement the flavors of the dishes, accentuating specific notes that may have otherwise gone unnoticed. The staff possesses an impressive knowledge about their sake selection, offering insights that added to the appreciation of each glass.
Moreover, the seamless flow from one dish to the next was admirable, keeping the evening smooth and engaging. There wasn’t a moment where I felt rushed or left waiting for too long, a balance that's crucial in such dining experiences.
Shizuku is not just about the food but the entire experience. It's evident that the team takes pride in their craft, from sourcing quality ingredients to the presentation on the plate.
For anyone looking for an authentic Omakase experience with a focus on quality and tradition, I can't recommend Shizuku enough. It’s a restaurant where every bite speaks volumes, and the sake flows in perfect harmony with the dishes. A visit here isn’t just dining; it’s an immersion into a rich...
Read moreFinally, some good f**king food! This place blew my expectations in every single way. I came here for my birthday with a small group of friends with some of them being new to omakase and some being omakase veterans and everyone left feeling absolute bliss. We got the Yuki omakase experience that came with 18 seasonal selections of seafood as well as the sake pairing. What I really appreciated about every single dish was the fact that I’ve never tried a lot of them before, but all the flavour combinations just made sense and tasted amazing. Liver usually isn’t the first thing you think of when you think “delicious” (or maybe it is) but the ankimo shu - monkfish liver puff was actually one of my favourite dishes along with the otoro and negitoro. All the sake pairings were also top notch with the Nichi Nichi being my favourite. It went down super smooth and had the slightest hint of carbonation which made it super interesting. Chef Kazuki and Jay along with the rest of the Shizuku team were very professional and friendly during the whole experience. Jay was highly knowledgeable on all the food and sake offerings breaking down all the properties of each item and their intricate histories. One thing I was worried about was leaving feeling like I still had space for more but that definitely was not the case both food and drink wise 🥴 I couldn’t possibly recommend this place enough to any omakase enjoyers or people looking to try omakase for...
Read moreMy first omakase experience: it was amazing. I knew it would be great in every way, but I didn't know what to expect. I was blown away by the delicious food, calming decor, and super friendly and lovely staff who put up with my impromptu sashimi quiz lol. My sister and I ended up adding 3 courses for a total of 21, and we were so full afterwards. And because our time slot was the final one of the day at 8:30pm, we were able to stay past the two hour mark and not have to worry that the next batch of customers would arrive. (On that note, make sure you arrive basically just on time. We came early and the doors were still locked for the time slot before us. If you come late, you kind of ruin the tempo of the omakase for the other customers and the chef).
I love the idea of omakase because I get to try things I would never order myself. We had shirako, which I've only ever seen online and it looks like a brain, but it was honesty not so bad. I realized that some sashimi that I normally don't like at regular Japanese restaurants aren't actually bad, but it's just that I've never had them at such a high quality before. It's like saying you don't like fried chicken bc you've been eating super greasy and soggy ones all your life without realizing it. Anyway, this was honestly one of the most unique experiences I've ever had, and I'm so glad I finally got to try it. It's a great place to go for a...
