I really like this place and found the staff to be extremely kind and helpful, and always on time. Tristan squeezed an appointment in for me as I had concerns and explained everything thoroughly to me. I read some of the negative reviews about Dr. Elliot, but I found him to be nothing but friendly. He tells it like it is and gives just the right amount of information, and I can appreciate that. Prior to going to BC Diabetes Offices, I was in the care of my family physician who was great, but once I went to BC Diabetes, it was like a "do-over". They started from scratch and I was okay with that because after all, they are the experts and they have access to resources that my family physician does not have. If you have diabetes, this is the place you need to go to. I was assigned nurse Geri Klein to assist with setting up my CGM device and training. Geri was amazing and thorough. She called daily and made herself available even when she was out of town to answer answer my questions and address my concerns. I see a review on here from someone who had a negative experience, saying that the 5 star review must be from friends/colleagues. I get that not everyone will feel the same way I do, but I am not a friend/colleague, just a grateful patient who's quality of life has greatly improved since visiting...
Read moreI had a deeply disappointing experience during my recent visit. Although I arrived five minutes late, this was repeatedly brought up throughout the appointment and seemed to overshadow the entire interaction.
From the beginning, I felt more like I was being lectured than cared for. The advisor focused heavily on carb counting without giving me the opportunity to explain how I currently manage my diabetes or discuss the challenges I’ve been facing. I came in hoping for support and understanding but left feeling unheard and dismissed.
When Doctor Lee arrived, I hoped the tone would shift, but unfortunately, it was more of the same. I was interrupted repeatedly whenever I tried to ask questions or share input. I’ve seen other endocrinologists in the past and have never felt so shut out of my own care. When I finally expressed how I was feeling, it was not well received — the doctor simply walked out of the room, leaving me no choice but to do the same.
This was by far the most frustrating medical visit I’ve ever had. I hope the clinic takes this kind of feedback seriously and considers how important two-way communication and empathy are in patient care.
I read some of the others reviews and can now empathize with how...
Read moreI believe I found the right place to well manage my 30+ yrs of diabetes. The doctor(s), assistants and staff are all friendly and very helpful to me. Upon learning of my diabetes history, they immediately prescribed the CGM sensors, changed my prescriptions of some 10+years. These measurs had immediate impact to my better management of glucose levels. My case manager Mira followed through my monitoring for two weeks (!), and made timely adjustments to the prescriptions. I have so much more confidence in managing my diabetes today. This clinic under Dr. Elliott even restores some of my confidence in the BC Health system ( I did not know I can be helped this way so much). I wish I had come here...
