Bestie Hair Salon — Attraction in Vancouver

Discovered this place through Groupon. I made an appointment for Saturday morning and came maybe 10 minutes late, but they still accommodated me. They were busy! There were a total of four staff. One older male who cuts hair, one younger male who manages the cash register and cleans the floor, one young female who handles the hair coloring, and the boss lady who cuts hair and takes all the phone calls. I was there for a simple haircut and wash, yet it took 1.5 hours before I could leave this salon. That's because I was waiting maybe 10-15 minutes for someone to cut my hair and another 10-15 minutes for someone to wash my hair. The boss lady was supposed to take care of me, but I guess she had an important client she was working on so after awhile she motioned for the male to cut my hair. He actually cut my hair pretty good. I have long, straight hair and I requested a chin length cut with layers and side bangs. He would tap my shoulder several times during the cut to get my attention to confirm my requested style. After the cut I was told to wait for the boss lady to wash my hair. She was worth the wait. She gives you a head massage while she washes your hair, however a phone call interrupts and than the hair coloring client needed attention and so the latter part was finished off by the male hairstylist whom I would not recommend to wash your hair as he also washes the inside of your ear, nonchalantly scrub your head, and overall just didn't seem to know or want to wash your hair. He finished my hair with a blow dry and some perfecting cuts and I was on my way. I'm not sure why but I was charged an extra $1.60 even though I already paid with Groupon. The prices are really reasonable at this location, and if I live here this would be my go-to hair salon. This is an Asian-owned business; the boss lady and staff sound Vietnamese. Be aware there are no regular chairs, only salon chairs, so if the place is full your companion might not have a place to sit and...

I called to see if they could do something for me today, and they had room sameday. I walked in and was greeted by everyone, and we discussed my goals with my hair. I wanted to remove old dye at my ends and match as closest to my natural colour. Song, another woman and and a man worked on my hair, they bleached and lifted my hair and did go a bit higher than I thought was needed but they discovered some remaining old dye. It was actaully my first salon expirence, so you can imgaine how nervous i was, trusting people with my hair. While the place got busier they didn't forget about me, they didn't rush.. they took their time with my hair even when they all took turns and were busy. They made sure I was lifting well. I was washed, and they did a test strand with the toner, which I was pleased with so we did my head. During my 2 washes I got scrubbed well, I think by ryan? Felt amazing. Even got a neck massage! And the end result is amazing, no banding, no damage. Hair is soft and feels strong. Even kept some of my curl pattern, which I knew would be compromised during the lifting process, but actually not by much. I'm very happy with the outcome. They didn't charge me for anything extra like the massages or blowout. They were all hyping me up, and it made me feel great. I live close by and I walked the whole way home with a big smile....

I have long, blue hair that has been blue for over 10 years. I’m very picky about who does my hair and often go many months until I can travel to see my friend who usually does it. Based on their reviews and Instagram photos of other clients with bright colours, I gave this salon a try and was NOT disappointed. The staff went above and beyond to wash, treat, dye and cut my hair and were so friendly and communicative through the whole process.

They take an ‘all hands on deck’ approach to a whole new level, and get to know their clients and their needs as each staff member engages with you at different points of your visit. They made the few hours go by so quickly, and I loved watching them chatter and laugh as they worked on me. It’s extremely fair pricing and I would have paid double or triple in other salons. I will absolutely be back, and feel lucky to have this salon so accessible in my neighbourhood.
