What was once a source of much shame, this park is now a very unique and surprisingly clean hidden gem in the city. I am a local metal detectorist YouTuber 'Scoopy Joe', and I spent 5 hours metal detecting the beach at CRAB park recently. I found zero needles or other dangerous items, just lots of old nails from campfires - the same as all our other beaches in Vancouver. If you're avoiding this park because of its tumultuous past and horror stories, do yourself a favour and check it out, it's a great little space now!
Also, the google maps walking directions are hilariously inefficient, all you need to do is walk through Gastown to the corner of Alexander and Main St, take the loop bridge over the train tracks and you're there! It's literally a 5 minute walk...

When it’s good: this park has wonderful views of the city, it’s close to the ocean and it can be a quiet and it can be nice place in heart of the downtown east-side where people bring their dogs. I’ve seen people do crab fishing here and play frisbee.
When it’s bad: it’s very bad. It can be poorly maintained and can feel unsafe and very sketchy. Lots of litter.
